EB sucks so bad...

TEH LEADER has trouble loggin out...

 

I liked my local EB from the day that RTCW came out and I first went to best buy thinking that it would be on the shelves. Scragly and not very clean shaven games dept. worker at best buy said "Wolfenstein? Uhm no, thats not till next weekend."

Left. Drove 5 more minutes to local mall. Went into EB. Just as I got there, they were opening the box.

Me: "Do you have RTCW in yet?"
Lady at counter (to co-worker, cool college kid about my age): "Did we open the RTCW box yet?"
College Kid at EB: "Yup, just opening it now. Somebody wants a copy? Does he have a reservation?"
Lady: "He wants a copy, has no reservation, but best buy gave him the cold shoulder." College Kid: "Well we have a copy right here for him."
*hands lady brand spankin new and unopened yet nicely shrink wrapped box of RTCW*
Lady: Here you go. $49.95 please."
Me: *pays lady and leaves happily*
Me: *calls friend who worked at Best Buy night shift at the time and leaves a message stating how crappy best buy is*

the EB where i live is awesome. i love the people that work there.

 

I didn't need to pre-order anything. I live on the edge.

 

LOL...now if only they didn't charge you an arm and a leg, and rights to your firstborn child for a good game or DVD.

 

I have a friend that works there, so he managed to get me a deal. They're not gonna take my firsborn if it's a girl.

I've had bad blood with EB since last February, when I was checked out by some stoned employee:
Me: Hi, I called this morning, and you guys said that PS2s were in stock.
EBguy: Did you pre-order one?
Me: No, the guy on the phone said I couldn't after October.
EBguy: Why would he say that?
Me: Because the system's already been released, he said it'd be first-come-first-serve. And I'm first in line.
EBguy: OK then, how would you like your bundle?
Me: I'm not buying my PS2 online, buddy. I'm not forking out the better half of a thousand bucks for accessories I don't need.
EBguy: I dunno, lemme get my manager. (Meanwhile a long line is accumulating behind me.) Hey Grant, do we sell Playstation 2's alone?
OTHER EBguy: Yeah, and no checks!
EBguy: OK, sorry about that, can I see a major credit card?
Me: I'm only 17, dude.
EBguy: Then how are you going to pay for the system Mr. Wizard?
Me: Cash, Einstein.
EBguy: Oh, cool. Hey, why are you wearing Pajama bottoms?
Me: Well, I've been waiting outside since 6:00 a.m. this morning. I had to be up at 5:30 to get down here. I was counting on getting in and out before the rest of the mall opened. Could we hurry it up.
EBguy: OK, I'm going to need your "S.E. number." Social Security?
Me: I think that's Serial number, and is on the back of the PS2.
EBguy: OK, here you go, have a nice day.
Me: Don't you want my money???
EBguy: Oh, that would help, wouldn't it? That'll be 375 bucks. Have a nice day?
Me: Can I have the game I just paid for?
EBguy: OK, have a good day.

You EBguys need to make sure your employees aren't nuked when they're on the job.

 

You stayed in line.... for a console?

 

It was in 2001, consoles were harder to come by. I called em' everyday to the point that the manager just told me to come on Monday morning. I mustn't have been the only one because there were 11 guys behind me.

 

Why WERE you wearing pajamas? Even if you did get up at 5, you can still get dressed, surely?

 

But... why'd you want a console in the first place?

 

I told my parents I was sick, so I had to maintain my ill-look. The rest of the mall wasn't even going to open till 9. Plus, I was only counting on being there for 5 minutes.

Why I wanted the console? My computer was crap, and Starfighter had just come out.

 

I'm confused. You wouldn't get dressed in an effort to convince them you were ill, but you went shopping at 5am? Were you trying to convince them you were mentally ill?

 

I told my parents that I felt ill the night before, so I would be able to stay home from work. They believed me, and thought I would be spending my day sick in bed. My initial plan was to leave after they left, but when I learned EB was opening early, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get a system, so I left quietly while my parents slept. I was back in twenty minutes.

 

Right...

I'm trying desperately hard not to be piteous.
