I think pm'ing is a great idea, though I'm not sure about the themed idea. The randomness of the prompts is the best part (for me), I don't think I'd like feeling guided in a certain direction with them.

1. Themed requirements -- I think in a series of let's say four prompts, if a holiday or event was upcoming during the challenge, one or two prompts could be included but also left somewhat open-ended.

E.g., near Independence Day, two prompts could be fireworks and an annual celebration of historic relevance, i.e., Endor Day LOL

2. Anonymity via numbers sounds a cool idea. It could be tried for a round or two and if it seems too cumbersome, go back to the original form.

 

Or V-E Day - Victory over the Empire Day

The number idea is interesting, we could run it through a few paces certainly.

 

Yeah, per Nyota's Heart and Anakin Solo Revanchist; there could be one or two "leading" prompts for such occasions, but you don't want to railroad the contestants so harshly. Iron Chef has theme ingredients, but they don't tell you how to use them...

 

I like the idea of anonymity. It would allow readers and judges to go in blind and pick based on the story itself and eliminating the potential bias, should there be a fan-favorite writer in the midst.

 

I say give it a try and see how it works for the challenge, Kelia. I just worry it will be more work for you. =\
