Yeah, it'd be cheaper and easier to just film here where we made the first one.

Excellent. Now we just need to figure out who, where and when.

First of all, who wants to do/play what? We have about 7 parts to fill (counting two stormtroopers that we'll need). Any of the parts can be re-written for a woman if any of the ladies are interested in playing them. We'll also need a crew for our cast. A director, cameraman, gopher and choreagrapher (*cough*Jason*cough), etc. This is also going to need a lot more work with regards to costuming and we'll also need to start brainstorming for costumes, visuals and all that other stuff.

Now, for where, there's no reason we can't shoot in the same spot as last year. If anyone knows a better place then speak up! Otherwise most of the story is written to take place in the sand pit (the duel and the final scene, but of course that can be re-written).

If people are willing to help out, I was thinking more along the lines of renting an actual "good" camera to film with...

If we plan it carefully enough, and are willing to shoot for ALOT of hours in a day, we could really minimize the cost of renting a camera, but the quality would be awesome... I figure if we are going to put hundreds of hours into making the film a reality, there really is no point if the quality of the film is going to suck.

    Very True.

And is there anyway of getting better sound quality? Can we do a voice over or something? Because the quality in sound in the last one (and for most FanFilms) was pretty bad.

Yes, that will most likely go hand in hand with a better camera...

We can see what we can actually capture on set, and worry about overdubbing it later...

So your looking at renting professional quality camera or just a high end digital camera, a professional camera might come with lavs and battery packs. What did you use audio wise last time, lavs? a boom mic would be easy to rig up.

    Yeah, I would LOVE to rent a XL-1 or a GL-2...

We didn't have anything fancy for sound capture on the last film, would love to have a nice boom mic... :)

I'm not familiar with the XL-1 or GL-2, is that proffesional quality, is it something anyone can work or do you need to know how to white balance etc.

They seem to be the "Camera of Choice" for most fanfilms, as I know most of the people on the fanfilm board use one or the other...

I can't imagine it would be "too" complicated... I would assume that whomever was operating the camera would have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with it beforehand either via online tutorials, the actual instruction manual or by asking lots and lots of questions of the rental place/fanfilm board.

I was also thinking that it might be a good idea to "rent" it for a day and shoot either some rehearsals or practice with different teqniques and stuff, and then we can go through that footage and see what works and what doesn't, as well as help the camera operator learn "on the job" so to speak when it doesn't really count... :)

I remember we talked about renting a camera... Anyway, I agree whole-heartedly that we need a good quality camera to do this one. I just didn't think that enough people were interested enough to invest in one. I know I would be willing to put my money where my mouth is. Anyone else? :D

    Meeting anyone? ;)

Say, next Wednesday, Chapters/Starbucks at 6?

We need to find out who's going to do what, and make sure we're all on the same page. This is going to be a pretty big project.
