I voted for Howard because the Labor party is totally unprepared to hold office, not because of interest rates. As their sad, pathetic little factional shuffling has illustrated, they're not at all egalitarian and merely talk the talk. Hence, Liberal.

Same reasons why I voted Ender, I had a bad feeling about Latham from the moment i saw him and it looks like i was right now the the labor front bench in ribbons.

Latham is an amateur, i thought he was but now I know

It was cetainly a case of voting for inexperience or voting for a lying, fear mongering half a man.

Please, next you'll be telling us how the Libs were just fear mongering the whole time whilst mentioning "PM Costello" int he same breath... ;)

I think most people are actually happy with the result, and over the whole event.

Is it not possible for someone to voice their opinion without you acting condascending to them?

next you'll be telling me I'm a Triple J listening, tree hugging hippy, or something.

    it's interesting reading this..
I have some acquaintances who voted, but had no idea what a political party is! They are young, inexperienced voters who have the opinion that it doesn't affect me, I have no family, I'm a uni student and I don't pay taxes (most live at home).

Not that I'm of that opinion. I've been voting for a few years now, and have worked and have a family. I've tried explaining to those who I've described above, but to no avail.

One thing we DO need in this country is better education of voters. We have such a multicultural and diverse population that we do not really get a result that I believe is true of what the people want.

But that's just my opinion. :D

    I thought I was just being a smartass - hence the " ;) " - but I guess not? ;)

One thing we DO need in this country is better education of voters.

You're absolutely right, and we need better information campaigns about where the preferences go for the minor parties.

Sure, that information is out there, but especially for first time voters, it can get confusing.

But I'm sure you're missing something insightful and important on FOX News Channel while you read and reply to this so I won't keep you :p

    That's right, I really don't.

And I find FOXNews to be as boorish as you do, but perhaps you'd like to find other right wing generalisations in the absense of original wit?

Yeah, I took a leaf out of your "left wing generalisations" pamhplet with the trendy Triple J tree hugging thing.
You're just eminiently mimicable in that respect, Ender ;)

And I don't care that you don't care what others think of you, however low it may be.
But then you probably don't care that I don't care that you don't care so I guess I'll just have to learn to cope with your stioic indifference.

Is that an impasse, or a mexican standoff then?

I need to know if I wear my "impasse sneer" or "mexican standoff shoes".
