I wish they'd source their opposing "fact" arguments, but other than that it's funny as hell. And now the accusations from the Liberal party are coming in of it being backed by the Labor party because someone who once belonged to the Labor party is associated with it. Wow, a Labor supporter doesn't like John Howard and is being vocal about it, talk about your underhanded tactics.

 

Ohhh, love that site. We know he has out and out lied about pretty much every aspect of managing the country, but its good to have these all together in one place.

I wonder how many of these things are 'core promises' though

But we'd also be naive to think that a Labor government wouldnt lie etc. But I dont think we should be rewarding a government that has lied this much, with another term in office.

Also, I'm not fussed about all Labor governments. I have a hard time believing that Carr will remain as premier after the next election. I think he's done a pretty good job at lying to voters, and screwing pretty much everyone over.

I've never voted for a major party before, but in this federal election, I have to vote Labor, and I'll have to vote Liberal at the next state election (albeit via a postal vote from the US).

 

I just hope they check out the submissions from the general public thoroughly before they post them. You can pretty much guarrantee that there's some Liberal stooges formulating falsehoods to try and discredit the site.

 

Or any Labor/Leftist stooges too.

Like the current complaints about how Tony Abbott did stupid stuff at Uni.

Which Kevin Rudd (???) was quick to get on the air about and dismiss. Hey, it's got nothing to do with foreign affairs...

Whatchoo talkin 'bout, I aint heard nothing 'bout Abbot and stupid stuff at Uni.

 

Abbott apparently groped some woman while he was at University. It was 27 years ago and was dismissed by the court back then. Abbott is an arse at the best of times, but this news item is lame. Ah well, at least Abbott did resort to boo-hooing in front of the media about it.

Well I will be voting for the current goverment.

I think that their track record is good, and the opposition have nothing to offer.

Getting in Mark Latham was a great desision (far better than Simon Crean), and I was nearly convinced to vote for him, until he came out with his policy for withdrawing the troops from Iraq by Christmas no matter what.

After that I have serious doubts over if he will actually think things through or just do knee jerk reactions.

The whole thing about Peter Garrett is a publicity stunt, and from my point of view (being an ex pom), I will not vote for someone who sings about burning the Union Jack. Seems a bit too extreme for my liking.

Apparently, Marky Latham wants to use Federal funds to support pay equity in court.

Who opposes it? Chambers of Commerce, most business communities.

Who supports it?

The Union movement.

Sigh. I thought we'd moved on from the days when

a) Unions mattered

and

b) the Federal Government regulated business conditions.

In fact, if I remember correctly, it was Whitlam - Mark's idol and Labor Right Wing "folk hero" who tried to get this initative rolling back in 1975, and Bobby Hawke who undid it with lassiez-faire capitalist reforms.

Self regulation is their friend, not yours.

No, I'm not, I'm against centralised planning.

We are LIBERAL democracy, not a SOCIAL democracy, nor a democratic socialist state, so using Federal resources to fight battles is simply an outdated method of doing things - and as the spectacular failure of central planning as introduced to a culturally incompatible society shows, we're better off without it. Furthermore, it is already part of industrial relations legislation that pay must be equal. Why add another layer to the bureaucracy to ensure this?

Simple. It gives the Unions more clout. It basically allows for the Unions and the ALP - and let's not forget the ALP Conference, where it was proudly proclaimed to the rafters that the ALP and Unions are finally working together again - to fight the business community in response the general anti-Union sentiment.

Simply put, if you can demonstrate you're not getting equal pay for equal work, then you're entitled to seek a redress under Federal workplace laws. So why must the Government interfer?

Not because they give a rats about womens pay conditions; because they give a rats about the bloody unions.

INTERVIEWER: What you said was that the decision of Spain and the Philippines to withdraw their troops has encouraged terrorism against Australia.

INTERVIEWER: Well, aren't you aware that the Philippines were bringing their troops back home anyway?

ALEXANDER DOWNER: Yes, I was aware of that, Bryan.

INTERVIEWER: And that the Spanish Government was voted in because the Spanish people said they wanted the troops out of Iraq?

ALEXANDER DOWNER: Yeah, of course I'm aware of that.

INTERVIEWER: Mr Downer, look at me. Have you been smoking anything?

ALEXANDER DOWNER: I haven't smoked anything for a long time, Bryan.

INTERVIEWER: You've got a mate that's got eyes that look like that?

ALEXANDER DOWNER: No, I'm off the gear. I haven't touched anything for ages and ages.

INTERVIEWER: Come on. Mr Downer, did you describe the Philippines as a marshmallow?

No he didn't; daft bugger rejected it. And woo for you, Mr L, for rejecting a good but imperfect FTA with the largest f'ing economy in the world on the grounds his prewwcious PBS protection amendment isn't included.

Will someone hire a lawyer and have them explain the notions of consitutional law, international treaties and existing statutes to the caucus? Just make sure the damn Unionists are absent, and we'll be able to take a step forwards, not backwards and to the side.
