Does anybody still play Empire at War? I just realised that it's already 6 years old!

I don't play it too often anymore, but if I play it I never play FOC (I hate the consortium - it completely unbalances the game!) I also seldomly play online, if so usually with a friend or my brother.
Or I use the "Awakening of the Rebellion" mod.

I still play it occasionally, mainly with the Phoenix Rising mod for FoC.

does that at all make the game any better, because FoC was rather....well, lacking and overbloated.

I would like to think so, there is no Consortium, so it puts the focus back on the GCW.

I still prefer Galactic Battlegrounds. I was so excited about the movie camera feature of EaW, but it seemed silly that it would show you areas where nothing was going on.

you can always skip ahead to the next scene..

i never tried galactic battlegrounds, but it's just a star-wars-version of age of empires, isn't it?

Love EaW. But Battlefront 2 takes most of my SW gaming time

I mostly play it with the Thrawn's Revenge mod. Love the latest version of it. You can play as the Empire, New Republic, Empire of the Hand, Penastar Alignment, Dushkan League. And tons of EU characters for heroes for each side. My only regret is there is no diplomacy feature for this game. Would like to be able to ally with or declare a ceasefire, make it more realistic. But it would likely be impossible to implement in the game.

I don't like Thrawn's Revenge as much as I like Phoenix Rising, but its probably a better choice for me since all of the computers I have access to are older ones.

I'll pop it in every once in awhile. Haven't done so with any mods in awhile. Not especially since I got my latest computer only a month or so ago.

Like Zeta mentioned, Phoenix Rising is an excellent mod, and personally I enjoy Thrawn's Revenge.

Republic at War is fun, and actually has an aggressive AI, but puts some of the install files in the main game folders, which causes other mods to not work (particularly Phoenix Rising).

Yes! The Yevetha are normally wiped out by the Empire of the Hand by the time I have the resources to get them in the version I play. :(

Granted, they don't have much more than the Intimidator and some thrustships. And the thrustships are laughably killable.

I like playing as the Hand, only wish they had something like a hypervelocity gun or ion canon, would be nice to be able to properly defend my strategic worlds with more than just my fleets.

Also someone get Zahn to write a book where the Hand has their own Super Star Destroyer, please. :p
