They have original Stormies to the right.. Hrmm.

Both pictures are fantastic. Will be getting at least one, likely both!

 

what's up with the old stroomtroopers/old falcon with the circular radar dish tho

 

My first thoughts on seeing 'em... well, the first was "hey, those two stormies' backplates don't match, like the one closest to us is reversed", then "...and they're Imp stormtroopers, not FO!" Then I popped over to look at the hero cover and saw the Falcon dish.

 

I thinks its symbolism, like new on the left and old on the right

 

They all look cool, both the heroes and the villains.

 

I'll get neither and magically the whole magazine will find me.

I think this is in the context of the present day.

 

Probably trying to convey what the heroes are up against.

 

The old stormtroopers on the right is just sloppiness, I think, which is frankly pretty annoying.

 

That sure is purdy.

 

I dunno, old stormtroopers on the right, old falcon on the right. Seems too similar to be coincidence.

If it is coincidence, someone really isn't paying attention.

 

I have a digital subscription to this, so I get both and neither of the covers, technically. Really looking forward to the read.

Looks like it, yeah. I can't imagine LFL would have provided old stormtroopers for the actual shoot. So that makes it worse, IMO... like someone at Empire said "we need some stormtroopers in there, photoshop 'em in", and nobody involved knew enough to catch it.

@Midnite_EyeGoku I think they're high quality mockups of concept art. Most concept art features OT Stormtroopers and the wrong dish.

proof that nobody involved knows the difference between stormies or they are too lazy.

 

If that's the case, Rey, Finn and Poe better turn around fast!

 

How would that be just in the context of present day? The most anticipated movie ever is the most anticipated movie ever regardless. Either that's TPM, TFA, or some other movie. But if TPM still holds that title, then I don't care when TFA was released, now or 100 years ago. That would be a false statement period.
