Agreed. ANH has to take the time to introduce the new characters (Luke, Leia, Han) before jumping back into the Saga storyline with Empire. When Luke surrenders himself to Vader on Endor and he is taken before the Emperor the OT and PT have become one. Everything has now come together, all the peices are in place and the story will be finished.

I know this is just an opinion and others may not agree but I noticed after watching the OT episodes that ESB seems to match up or hold up I guess you could say to the newere PT. I don't know if this is because it seems to visually or thematically. It's tone is darker so maybe that is part of it. I just think watching it after seeing a PT episode doesn't cause me to cringe at things as often. Another reason could be the similar themes between Luke and Anakin of the PT. Yes TESB does match up with the PT. You have Yoda still struggling with the old Jedi ways by not wanting to train Luke because of his age. You have Luke mentioning a dream.

Really the only problem lies in A New Hope, with Obi-Wan just flat out lying to Luke to get him to start his journey, however, you're supposed to understand that if Obi-Wan would of told Luke the truth about his father, then Luke probably wouldn't of even offered to give Obi-Wan a ride to Anchorhead, and Luke would of probably curled up in the fetal position and fell into a deep state of depression.

That's true,he flat out lied, but then Luke probably wouldn't have trusted Obi-Wan if he had told him what had reallyhappened to Anakin and if Obi had admitted his part in it.

I agree that after watching TESB, and even ROTJ, the PT matches pretty well with the OT.

Still, ANH is an excellent bridge for connecting both stories and the set up tells you that things were told or putted in a "certain point of view", or a different way, in order to not spoil the truth to the newer characters, although the viewer really knows the true story after watching the PT.

Yeah I really agree with the AOTC/ANH and ROTS/ESB thing. When I first saw Anakin in the Jedi Starfighter, it was just like when I first saw Luke on the Tauntaun. It just feels more continuous in how it takes you back so many years to when you watched the previous movie.
