As I'm sure everyone here knows, curse words are not acceptable here.

Something I do not think anyone knows, is that curse words cleverly disguised with ***'s are not acceptable either.

Although the entire word isn't being written, it's very obvious what the word is. There shouldn't be any evidence of a curse and if I see it, I usually edit it.

However, I tend to notice some members doing it a lot. This thread is being created so there is no excuse for anyone to continue this form of communication any longer.

To me, it is considered swearing and is a bannable offense.

You can get your message across without resorting to swearing and breaking JC rules.

    :)

I don't like the idea of getting banned for hiding oaths but I'll abide.

hey miss, how long do bans last? if it's the first time a person's ever even cussed or say something wrong and they got banned, will they eventually get unbanned, kinda like a time out, even if they apologized for it. or is it for good?

Bans usually last forever, dude. Unless you suck up and say you're sorry to the admins, maybe, just maybe, they'll unban you. :D

If you commit a "big nasty", don't worry, you're not coming back - at least under that handle. If you do something to a lesser extent, you're banned until you discuss the situation with the admin who banned you.

This thread went from 6 posts to 5 posts.

    What happened?

Edit by Missy -- it was going off topic, and I don't want it to distract from the seriousness of my message.

Yup. I got a phrase from Chyren that I use rather frequently and I'm afraid to get banned for it one day. Chyren once said 'tough sith'. I converted it and use it as 'sith happens'. As you see it is in a way a disguised curse word.

    Yes, but that's different.

    It's a SW joke, almost.

Let's pretend Bike was a really, really bad word.

    Someone comes along and goes:

Blah blah blah B**E you too, buddy!

As, "Bike" is a fairly vulgar and known word, it's pretty obvious what they're saying.

As I said...... ***'s are not acceptable.

    I can't disclude Sith.

    Sith Happens is great!

Sith = evil = bad stuff = totally works with Sith Happens.

Would you like me to just say, No, you can't say it, or would you like to accept my reply about it?

It makes sense. It's being made into a SW spoof. It's very clever and still has that "evil" connotation.

Now, by concealing that word by saying ***T, would be unacceptable.

However, by turning it into Sith, is acceptable.

It's just common sense. You can't call someone a Sith for brains.

But Sith Happens, as per your original query, is acceptable.

Edit: hit "post" too quickly. :p

    Missy,

Is it still considered bad form if the entire word is blotted out?

    E.g.:

    "What the ****?!"

    or

    "Oh, &$#@!"

Well, I would just have to say one thing...

Would curses be allowed in FanFic? Coz sometimes they do very mild curses (like "Oh, sith!") for the story to go well.
