So the only reaching was you. REACHING AROUND. zing.

The context was Muricans calling manual transmissions "sticks".

I noted in the above that Europe is mostly manuals, 'Murica is mostly autos and Australia is 60/40 auto/manual.

I also referred to Ferrari's decision to scrap the manual; Porsche's following suite... oh and that I have a 6sp DSG auto...

Enjoy your main course of crow and desert of humble pie.

'suite'? 'desert'? Smug superiority works better when you don't make mistakes.

    Your litigious society strikes again.

What passes for chocolate there is equal parts ripe for mocking derision and unrestrained sympathy. It's truly awful.

There are small artisan chocolate companies that make really good chocolate here, but the major companies, Hershey, Mars, etc are crap.

I agree though with the sentiment of one of the Britons interviewed - Hersheys could make the damned things properly. Though if they did, who would buy Hershey's? :p

No I mean the current Hershey bars. If they made their cadbury licenced properties to the proper recipe, then their Hershey's original chocolates would stop selling.

Oh, I see... I thought you meant if Hersheys started making chocolate that actually tastes good... lol.

I don't know... like I said, there are good artisan companies here that make really good chocolate, so that's okay... I really do like British chocolate, though.

I think my point was more to suggest Hershey chocolate is awful. By definition any artisan chocolatier you have would not replicate that filth.

We're in agreement. Hershey is waaaaay too sweet, and leaves a funky aftertaste.

Yeah, once I learned how good chocolate is supposed to taste I can't eat Hershey's anymore, it has notes of plastic and gasoline.

That being said, yeah we have good chocolate here, and England has some rubbish chocolate of course.

Can I just say that Galaxy Minstrels are amazing and if you can get them, do.

Can you recommend some good, freedom-lovin' Murican chocolate? Since we only get Hershey's gasoline, plastic and tar variety I am keen to experience the difference.

I usually just get chocolate at Trader Joe's, because they have awesome and cheap dark (real) chocolate. But my favorite chocolates are German and for that I go to the German deli nearby. Although something like Rittersport is sold widely in regular grocery stores.
And now, some replies to posts!

It is vile and should have no authority to regulate what is on TV outside of stopping things that are genuinely illegal (like child porn). Fining people for swearing and mild nudity in network shows? GTFO.
First off, tons of Americans visit Mexico and Canada. Many more visit nations in central America and the Caribbean. Because, you know, travel to places like Europe is really expensive from America.

Most Americans *want* to go to Europe and say they are jealous if you've been to many places there. But for most people, it's not financially feasible. For me I was lucky enough to be able to do a high school trip for theater and a college trip on scholarship. And seeing as how there were still Americans almost everywhere we went (except maybe Finland, where they seemed genuinely confused to see Americans), I think it's safe to say that if it were cheaper or if we bordered more than two countries, Americans would visit foreign nations more often. As it is, the well off ones already do.

But yeah, I have never ever mentioned traveling to Europe and had an American say, "pffft Europe, who needs it when we can go places in 'murica!" Every single person either says, "Oh I've been to that place, it was awesome!" or "Oh man I'm so jealous! I wish I could go to those places." So I'm not sure where you got that idea.

Hahah really? Criticize America all you like for building bases around the world and invading people, because God knows it's ridiculous. But you just listed a bunch of nations that only play cricket because they were invaded and subjugated by British imperialism for hundreds of years.

You remember British imperialism, right? It was this thing where the British Army and Navy went around the world declaring their superiority and building base-- hey, wait a minute that sounds familiar!

Tell me... if in 200 years Iraq and Afghanistan have been utterly crushed, then rebuilt and "civilized" in the American image (speaking American English, playing our sports, putting George Washington's face on their coins) and are now part of a vast American "Commonwealth" of nations we've conquered, and baseball is a popular sport the USA can now play at a high level against the national team of Afghanistan... does America get to pat itself on the back for having such globally-minded sporting events?

We should let the NFL know. They've been trying so hard to expand into Europe. If only they knew all we needed to do was to invade and colonize the peoples of Europe instead, I'm sure they could put together a great lobbyist group for that.

Tell me, Ender, when's your next cricket match with Germany? France? Brazil? Surely one of these great nations will have just realized the splendor of the game that is cricket and become enamored with it of their own volition. I'm sure there's a lot of international play against nations that weren't part of the British empire in the last 200 years, right? I mean, it's just America who has this crazy thing called "their own culture".

There's a Frenchman with an artisanal chocolate shop in the Santa Barbara area from whom I get all my chocolates for special occasions. My favorite being one infused with Earl Grey tea.

**watches Ender's head explode because 'boo things in America!' but he's also supposed to think Earl Grey Tea is the nectar of the gods**

Unfortunately the Netherlands will not be at the World Cup...the United Arab Emirates will take their place. Unfortunately Nepal didn't quite qualify after a terrible loss to Kenya.

Do you get Terry's Chocolate Orange in the US? If not then much pity. My favourite US chocolates are Reeses peanut butter cups. Love those damn things.
