Ender, this word is not an adjective. Rise above the tumblr-speak.

American women seem to attend sporting events more than other countries females. That's hot.

    Based on what?

If it's raw numbers, that's a stupid metric.

As a percentage? Australian females have roughly 80% the attendance rate of men.

And that's for better sports, too.

Hey Murica, why do you give people 3000 year prison sentences? Surely just telling the defendant they'll spend the rest of their life behind bars makes you sound less ridonkulous?

Very sensible to consider such eventualities. Years ago I wrote the disaster recovery policy for a former employer. It included a chapter covering zombie apocalypse, raptor attack and dalek invasion. I didn't include robot uprising for some reason, but I guess you'd want to keep your systems down if they could potentially be harnessed by the robots.

It varies from state to state; some states have mandatory parole allowances at a certain point during sentence length, so in those states the only way to be given life with no chance for parole is to receive a life sentence plus a number of years that makes said point prohibitively high. This is frequently compounded by the fact that certain crimes have certain sentences associated with them. In other states that isn't the case. For example in, of all places, Texas, the maximum sentence is life with no possibility of parole, so you don't get those wonky year terms.

Now I'm not going to go on to tell you that, at first glance, the first system makes any sense to me from a practical standpoint, but we're also kind of big on vindictive retribution in this country so I assume it plays into that desire.

i guess, if you can't push a well deserved death sentence through, the least you can do is provoke the **** into topping himself

The other reason is that each charge must have a sentence if found guilty and so consecutive sentences are required . This makes sense if, for example, a person is charged with 38 offences and found guilty on all 38 counts, but later appeals and the appeal court overturns 3 of those convictions. The sentences for those convictions will also be overturned, so unless there are consecutive sentences for the other convictions, you run the risk of setting the criminal free. Holmes was convicted of a number of crimes, including murder, attempted murder (of at least 70 people), guns offences, offences relating to explosive devices, so all of that adds up when you look at each offence separately.

I'll be honest, I'm almost disappointed by how much sense that seems to make.
