Well, if you show the simulators as using holographic imagery to project a big, detailed fleet combat image instead of using flatscreens, you can use shots of the simulator CGI as a substitute for fleet shots.

 

the moral dilemma of unmanned drones transformed this from unadaptable to inevitable. it NEEDS to be made now. done correctly it will the big awards. marketed correctly itll make a ton of loot. i guess you can say that about any film. like someone else mentioned, they need to play it straight. dont make it into a total kid film ala Jurassic Park

The article/IMDB don't give the character's name yet, but

Davis will play a military psychologist who looks after the emotional welfare of young trainees and designs the games that test their skills

This suggests they may include the bit about the rpg and the Giant's Drink in the movie

1 year from next month in a relatively inauspicious opening slot though I'm sure it's subject to change and in any case The Matrix opened in March, so maybe this is a good omen.

 

Given that Ender's Game is tentatively more or less filling the John Carter slot next year, I don't know whether that's good or bad. But filming is now underway in New Orleans. The production is scheduled to be at Easy Studios in the Michoud Assembly Facility, New Orleans and in Louisiana until June 8.
