Well, for some reason my mind is really dwelling on this. :D I suppose that is a good thing right?

Well what if we did Alpine troops? We could have winter and summer versions. Basicly the winter poncho and a camo cover. Then for the winter one we can rent some cross country skis and get some photo ops in the back country. That would be kinda cool. Then we can get some old crummy ones we can strap to our backs, jazz them up a bit so they look more star warsy, and there we go!

I have two old pairs of XCountry skis we could use. I plan on doing the double poncho thing, for snowy and regular terrain. Let's face it on CO, we can have both at the same time!

Hey Jen, could you e-mail me those photos you were talking about? graner@uwyo.edu please. :D

Also I think I am going to add a section to the IO page about our current project. Did we want to call ourselves the Mountain or Alpine troops? Any clever name suggestions?

So far we've been tagging ourselves as Mountain Troopers. Certainly around here we're going to need both a summer and winter version. ZOO's been talking O.D. or Khaki for a base color, but I was thinking grey(?) myself. Don't know if it would be easier to find or not.

well I was thinking of going with what Leia wore beneath her poncho. Blue/gray pants with a yellow stripe... and some shirt... hmmm.. my action figure is packed away so I can't refer to it :p

That would work but we were thinking more of the commando group uniforms. The second page of the Desert Trooper thread in the C&P board has several good pics.

Rebel Mountain Troopers - Commando Squad (and we need a really catchy squad name)

If we're going to come up with a squad name we may want to incorporate it into the patch.

    Definetly.... hmmm...

    How about the Mountain Rangers?
Or something completly off the wall:
    Cliff Hawk Squad
    Big Horn Squad
Like Lichen Squad(no I'm not on drugs today :p )
    Alpine squad
    Summit Rangers

Of course Squad and rangers are interchangable.

Ok, so I've gone through a ton of my old dad's army stuff... still have a box of clothes to go through... but I have some camo boots (size 10) both in black and tan (they'll probagbly need insoles tho... they're pretty beat up.) I've got some winter hats, all green and camo, some just green, and who knows what else. But I'll get a final count and get permission to distribute it all to the troops. It's all worn in, between 4 and 20 years old. But it will be free. :D

I'm still upset I can't find my soviet union army leather satchel :(

edit: I found it! :D My dad says it is a Soviet union army issue map case. It is signed by the office who gave it to him in '92.

I know i'm new here, but I've got a few ideas for the patches; why not use the 10th Mountain Division patches and add a design on top or something. you can check for patches from all branches @ http://soldiercity.com. They also have many other things you can check out.

I found some cool patches that we could use instead of having some made up. I'll see what the price difference is on Tuesday.

Sadly Jedi Girl I will not be making the costume. I'm getting ready to go overseas and I don't have any funding right now. And I would like to make my bounty hunters costume first.

I don't know where overseas I'm going, but as soon as I find out I will let y'all know. I should have a bunch of time on my hands since i don't plan on doing much. So I will be working on my bounty hunter uniform and constructing my very first lightsaber. My profile is already complete; so, i'm on the ball.
