    Star Wars
    A Galaxy at War
    Enemies Reborn

    Prologue

Two and a half centuries had passed since the Yuuzhan Vong incursion. But it was not a time of peace. Beings that were brought together in a single cause to save their galaxy were easily separated again.

The Galactic Alliance stood firm for many years after the great invasion. Coalition with the Imperial Remnant went smoothly as Grand Admiral Gillad Pallaeon and Chief of State Leia Organa Solo grew in friendship. Reconstruction commenced. The Galactic Alliance kept the help of the Chiss and all factions cooperated. Years after the first reconstruction projects of Coruscant, age finally took Grand Admiral Pallaeon. His successor, one of his more ambitious admirals, moved up quickly in rank in those last few years and abruptly took command of the Empire. He sought more worlds to control and immediately began to deploy his forces against the Alliance. Sowing discord and reigniting old arguments, he conquered all but the Republic and the Jedi. The civil war was fierce and fought in all corners of the galaxy. It was only the larger number of Republic forces that finally held them at bay. This new civil war was marked with another grand battle for Coruscant in which the old and fragile Chief of State, Leia Organa Solo, died.

An accord was reached, boundaries were drawn, and the galaxy went into an uncertain peace. The evil admiral died and in his place, Grand Moff Zeled claimed himself emperor with wide support.

The Jedi also changed. Their knowledge of the Unifying Force left their memories and they began to use the force in the superficial in the ways of the Jedi of the Old Republic.

The galaxy now stands on the point of breaking as the strong take advantage of the weak.

Most expect war, But few expect the threat to emerge from the unknown regions where Zonoma Sekot took the Yuuzhan Vong Remnants to live a new life.

Now, alliances will be made and broken, lives will be lost, and in the end, the fate of the galaxy will rest in the hands of one lone Jedi.

He kneeled on one leg with his head bowed. His hood cast a shadow over his face and his cloak covered the rest of his body. The dark room was lit only faintly by the monitors on the walls and guide lights on the stairs to a centrally placed throne. The dim lights exaggerated the shadows of the two figures. The other was sitting on the massive throne?

?Master, everything has gone as planned. The Republic is falling right into our hands.?

The emperor?s ice cold blue eyes eyed his apprentice and right-hand agent. His pale, decaying, and wrinkled face was surprisingly elastic as he smiled. He sat on back on the throne that closely resembled that of the long-deceased Emperor Palpatine. His long flowing tunic covered his whole body, and the long, loose sleeves revealed only his bony hands on the armrests. He spoke in an old, fragile, yet deep voice.

?Very good, very good, my shadow. You are performing better than I imagined.?

    ?Thank you, master.?

?Now tell me of the progress of our cloning project and relations with the Chiss.?

The being known as Shadow shook his head and spoke. ?The Chiss have denied our envoys and are claiming neutrality. They will not join us!? he spat. He paused to allow an interruption. ?But the cloning project is going as planned, without interference. After many years, Ubiqtorate Command tells me he will be ready in a week.?

The emperor smiled, then an evil cackling filled the air and seemed to even pierce the shadows. It also sent a faint chill down Shadow?s spine.

?Yes, after he is ready, , the Chiss will have no choice but to join us. He will be our dagger.? The emperor moved to dismiss Shadow. ?You are excused. I will call you again to accompany our clone.?

    ?Yes, my master.?

Under his hood, Shadow smirked. He rose from his knee and bowed deep to his master. He turned briskly towards the door.

Thanks for the PM Darth Greek. Your villains seem pretty good. The Shadow seems very mysterious, so I'd keep him that way throughout most of the story, perhaps divulging a few secrets about him along the ride.

The Emperor seems a lot like Palpatine in his demeanour and his cackling. (I like it). And the implication of the Yuuzhan Vong in the upcoming struggles sounds good to me too.

And I'd like to know more about this imperial admiral that started the war with the Republic. I have a strange feeling that he may be connected with this new Emperor.

"Barbosa Kirek, stand now and face the crowd as a Jedi Knight." The tall male Twi?lek did as he was told. He rose from his knee and turned to meet the standing ovation. He had red skin, and two long lekku that hung to his waist. He was young and his green eyes possessed a fiery young passion to live. He wore a white vest beneath his black Jedi cloak. On his belt hung his light saber; the weapon he had made when he was fourteen. Barbosa smiled and did a quick wave to the crowd that had come to see his knighting ceremony.

The ceremonial hall was the largest in the Jedi Temple, more than a hundred feet tall in the center. On the walls hung multiple banners bearing Jedi insignia. At the front of the room, two large Kashyyk wyoshhr-wood doors stood closed, with a Jedi guard on each side. At the back was the podium where Barbosa stood now, made of fine Mon Calamarian marble.

Raised above the crowd, Barbosa and his master, Patrick Starkiller, looked over the hundreds gathered. Starkiller was a tall middle-aged human, the same height as Barbosa. His face showed his experience, with a few wrinkles that tried to hide in his short brown goatee. His short yet unruly brown hair complemented his ice-blue eyes. He also wore a black cloak, but beneath it wore a blue vest. On his belt hung two light sabers. He was not the only Jedi Master in attendence, but since he was Barbosa's Master, he was in charge of the knighting ceremony.

Patrick stepped closer to Barbosa and spoke in his ear above the din from the crowd. "How does it feel, Barb?"

Barbosa leaned his head closer to Patrick. "I have to be honest, master ? I feel on top of the galaxy."

Patrick chuckled. "I did at my ceremony too. I'm sure your sister will be very pleased. You two always had a close bond."
Barbosa nodded. "Yes, I saw her in the crowd earlier. It?ll be tough to get to her through this crowd, though. Part of me wants to skip out and go to Dimmie's Bar to celebrate with just her."

Patrick nodded. "Have fun. But you're going to have to fight that wave of Jedi coming to congratulate you first."

Barbosa laughed. He turned around, shook hands with Patrick and thanked him. After that, he stepped down from the elevated platform and began to shake the hands and receive the congratulations of the people that came to wish him a bright future. Among them were many members of the Jedi Council.

Also in the crowd was one of his best friends and training partner, Juro Mong. Barbosa walked up to Juro and enthusiastically shook both his hands with a wide smile on his face. Juro returned the gesture and patted him on the back.

"Congratulations, you finally made it!" He said.

Barbosa grinned. "Thanks Juro, I couldn't have done it without you."

Juro slapped him on the back. "What are your plans now?"

Barbosa shrugged. "I plan to stay on Coruscant for a while and then go out on duty." As he finished the sentence, a young Twi'lek woman came from behind and gave Barbosa a giant hug. It was his sister, Mileena Kirek. She was a foot shorter and a year younger, but matched his enthusiasm for life. Her slim body had purple skin and red eyes. She was not born with the gift of communicating with the Force like Barbosa had, though. Instead, she worked at a respectable casino in upper Coruscant.

Barbosa turned around to greet her and lifted her up with his hands. He whirled her around, then put her back and down. She gave him a huge hug..

"I'm so happy for you! Congratulations Barbosa! We have to go celebrate."

Barbosa smiled and let her go. "Of course we will. I plan on heading out to Dimmie's. Are you interested?"

Mileena nodded. "Of course." She looked around. "How are we going to dodge this massive crowd?"

Barbosa looked around and saw the leading members of the Jedi Council had started their own private discussions.. "We leave now."

Barbosa grabbed Mileena?s hand led her through the massive crowd. He d

Excellent, except for one annoying typo in the paragraph when you're describing Coruscant.

With only one moon and it?s a misplaced orbit...

Makes you sound Italian (not meaning to sterotype or anything). :p

Chief of State James Solo sat in the center podium of the senate chamber. He was descended from the famous Solo line but over the years and across the many marriages, the Solo line was no longer a Jedi dynasty it once was. He was tall, and gray hair was beginning to mix in with his walnut brown locks. He had small, character-building wrinkles on his face. They added the look of wisdom in his opinion. He watched with distaste the latest senatorial debate. Yet another issue to tear the Republic apart.

The Senate dome was larger than the size of a shock ball stadium. There were hallways in the outer circle of the massive building that led to private halls and offices. The main hallways led to the center, the main Senate Hall, which had room for senators from hundreds of thousands of systems.

?Senators, hear reason! War is inevitable. We must build up our forces and strike first to throw them off guard!? cried the senator of Diamala, a short, squat, little sentient with graying skin.

The senator from Thyferra, Edward Pratt, spoke up. ?Don't be a fool. I am shamed to hear this from you, senator. It was to my knowledge that the Diamalans were wiser than that. The Empire can be a good ally if we only show amiable gestures to them. This military build up and--?

This time it was James who spoke. ?Tell me Senator Pratt, is lowering the price of Bacta for the Empire and raising it for the Republic one of the ?amiable? gestures you suggest? If we all followed your example, the Republic would be in a state of depression and the Empire would be able to buy us off. No, sometimes I wonder where your loyalties lie.?

James had never liked Edward Pratt. When first elected to the Senate, he seemed to be a very promising man, but as time went on, he became more and more corrupt. His support seemed to always come for the position that would allow him to profit the most, and surprising votes on matters of no consequence to Thyferra made James wonder what he would do next.

The senator from Diamala spoke up again in a cool but assertive voice. ?Wise words, your Excellency. Very wise indeed. I also think we need to bring up the issue of Senator Pratt's actions. I move to appoint a committee that will reverse the course of his treasonous actions. We must restore the price of bacta and remove the Imperial Embassy from the planet!? There was a loud clamor as senators began to argue with each other and some yelled at the Diamalan or Edward.

James tried desperately to quiet them down but it was useless. He sat down and pushed the ?Silence? button to turn off all microphones and speakers. Faint voices were still heard but they faded away after a few more seconds. James stood back up, eyeing the senators that caused most of the raucous. He activated the speaker systems. ?Keep it civil,? he warned.

Now another man spoke, Senator Brandon Redstar of Dubrillion and surrounding systems. He was an old man, but commanded respect. His hair was chalk gray. Wrinkles of wisdom learned and foolishness forgotten marked his face. He had been a savior of sorts to his system. He improved the economy and production of goods. Dubrillion had become a key manufacturer of clothing, household goods, and military supplies. It also had key financial centers vital to the Republic. He stood at his balcony and looked over the rest of the Senate. Everyone was hushed and silent, waiting for him to speak. ?Now senators, we must not be rash, but Senator Pratt's actions do concern me. But they can be dealt with later. As for the matter at hand: war is inevitable. If the Empire gets the upper hand they will be merciless. Their strength almost rivals ours, assuming the Chiss stay neutral. We must prepare and strike first.?

After Brandon had finished, Edward stood back up. His face showed a little annoyance. ?Senator Redstar, you speak valiantly but do you not realize the position you are in. If we were to go to war, your system faces the greatest threat. The Republic old and new has always tried to keep stay out of hostilities and to now discuss i

Dude, you pasted the chapter twice onto the page.

I like your idea for World Devastators used to clear up Coruscant's mess.

But...a Chief of State shouldn't be allowed to express personal opinions during a senate sessions. Even against political opponents Presidents are meant to be impartial.

Sorry it took so long for me to read this. I got your PM.

I must say this is vey good. I enjoyed it. We far future writers need to watch out for each other.

I'll keep the technical critisms down. I will say that I liked how you provided a lot of detail when you write. Expressions, emotions that sort of thing. I also liked the subtle Star Wars references, such as refering to the Wood from Kasyhkk. It helps to bring you into the Star Wars world.

Interesting Characters so far. I like the little surprise turn of events too. I didn't expect it.

I'm glad too see Yuuzhan Vong in this, its an interesting hook. Though I am a little jealous that you beat me to the punch with the Force-using Yuuzhan Vong. ^_^

He seems Shamanistic in how he calls upon his powers too, good idea, it was a nice touch. So you theorized as I did that some YV would still hold on to the old beliefs.

We seem of like mind on Coruscant. I don't think it is right to rebuild Coruscant back into its pre-Great War overpopulation. Hey but that me. (Heh I would have preffered the YV to keep Coru at the end of TUF. Nah...). I like the Jedi Order in this too, seemed like a more freer Jedi would spring up after Luke's reign, which is a good thing.

Pretty good start so far, keep at it. ^_^

Don't worry about it. I'm not a spelling sadist or anything. Actually, I tend to forgo spelling mistakes in facfics anyway. Its the internet right, as long as I can understand it and it is interesting there are no problems.

I didn't know if you needed any constructive critism or not. Anyway good luck.
