English speakers: How do you say the word ''either''?

Depends on how it's being used really, I've been known to use either pronunciation.

EYE-ther. Frankly I'm surprised how much of a minority we're in. Same thing with the word neither.

Well, now, this depends. Actually it's like a lot of words. It depends on at least three factors:

1) If I've been reading - for I always read it Ee-ther.
2) Who I've been around - I tend to catch other people's colliquisms after a week or so with them exclusively. I've an accent anyway - I'm told even though I grew up here - and other Ither usually comes out.
3) When I think about it - Like the word "Sure". How do you say it? "Shore" "Sewer" "Sher" Everybody has a different way.

 

I say it both ways. It depends on how I am using it.
