Alderaan went out in a blaze,
    not of glory,
    but of injustice,
of cold-blooded hatred that counteracted the fire that obliterated it.
    She stood
    motionless,
    helpless,
    impotent in her grief and
    stalwart
    in her hope
that all would be worth the sacrifice.
    That life would go on
    with or without
    her
    or those she loved.
She stood restrained only by the need
to not let her enemy win one more battle
and by the person who should have been able to love her.
    Kashyyk is no different
than Alderaan in its final blaze.
    She faces the fire
    of a more familiar enemy
and is restrained again by the need to
    prevent another victory.
When this enemy was young, she shut away her feelings
    to protect him
and to cover her own shadows.
    She wonders if that is
    another crime
that, along with hope and faith and inaction,
could be added to the charges brought against her.
    She watches Kashyyyk's blaze,
restrained by her grief and by
the man who has never ceased to love her.
Too much and too litle has changed
    since Alderaan,
but like the young woman who
    watched her world die,
she will not let this crime go
    unavenged.

Excellent Leia perspective, as always, Ish. You are so good at conveying her her quiet desperation tinged with an unrelenting desire to right the wrongs done to her and to the galaxy.

    It is sad.

Thanks, brodiew and SilSolo. This has been nagging at me since reading Inferno.
