Just copied this from the EP3 page:

EP3: Mahyew Also Signed for Sequel Trilogy?
    Wed, Jan 14, 04 05:10:30 PM EST

Rob tells us that the December 2003 issue of the British movie mag HOTDOG has just hit the stands here in the U.S. and found several cool Star Wars related things. In particular, on page 12, here's this possibly amazing passage:
"No wonder Peter "Chewbacca" Mayhew is smiling. Not only has he been rescued from obscurity and given the chance to reprise his role as our Wookiee comrade for Episode III, but his contract also stipulates that he'd be required to appear in Episodes 7, 8, and 9.
Yes folks, seems there are actual whispers at Lucasfilm that the 'sequel' trilogy might be in the works..."

oh please oh please oh please!!!!!!!

I think I'm too scared to even allow myself to believe something like this. I'm pretty much a skeptic till I hear offical confirmation and cross confirmation from several direct sources like this one.

    mmm hmmm... when pigs fly...

besides, after what's happened with Eps 1 and 2 (and that we're all praying won't happen to 3), I'd be extremely wary of 7, 8 and 9. [face_plain]

    INteresting...

Last I heard about these, was that George was refusing to think about it just yet, as "each trilogy takes 10 years out of my life... I have other projects to work on.. so maybe if I'm 80, and still interested, I might think about it"

Not to rain on anyone's parade, I'm just as interested in seeing them... and lining up for them... and and and...

    oh wait... heh heh...

Let's hope that he changed his mind, I mean after all, he doesn't have near enough money.... :D

He still needs to buy that island in the south pacific and rename it Couruscant ;)

But, like I've always said, if he doesn't do it, let's get Zahn, Stackpole, Allston and Spielberg to do it! [face_mischief]

At this point, if EP 3 doesn't blow people away I'm envisioning a strike team of elite geeks breaking in and foring Uncle George to sign a contract hiring the Fab 4 from above to do the last 3, all he has to do is produce it and butt out :)

    More news:
EP3: Updates to SW Sequels Rumor
    Fri, Jan 16, 04 09:14:32 AM EST

Jon Parton sends us this update to an earlier story about the Star Wars sequels being made.
Tonight, Ahmed Best was being interviewed on a local radio station (96.5 The Buzz in Kansas City). I didn't hear the whole thing, but the dj asked Ahmet about Episodes 7, 8, and 9. Ahmet said he couldn't say anything about them. He didn't deny anything, just saying that he was under contract and couldn't talk about it. Don't know if it's newsworthy or not, but there you go.

Peter Mahyew denies the original report on his official website where says the following according to a news tip from M. Kryger:
Hi, Well, that's very interesting, but no, it's not true about Ep's 7, 8 and 9....don't know where the guy got that one...but yes, I'll be in Ep III for sure.....thanks for the email... and Cheers, Peter

Then AICN is posting rumors about Lucasfilm cutting deals until 2012 and special effects wings staffing up:
Pacific Title employees working at Skywalker Ranch have just signed new contracts to run until 2012. Pacific Title are an optical and digital effects production company and the extended contacts are a carry over from their work on Episode II & III.

Obi_Shawn_Kenobi sends us this report from Canada, who probably just took the lead from our story about Hot Dog but still it hit the mainstream there:
I was just watching "The Stars Tonight" on a local television station in Toronto. This is the Entertainment News segment of the 6 o clock news on channel 8 here in Toronto. They mentioned that Peter Mayhew has signed and has said that he signed a contract for a Episodes 7, 8, and 9! This would help validate your previous story that you though might be just a big rumour.

And finally, Wolvskar sends us this note from the latest issue of the Star Wars Insider. This is Mark Hamill talking about the sequel trilogy:

"I knew they were going to be about other characters with a possiblity of my doing a cameo in the ninth one."
We called Lucasfilm, but Jeanie Cole in publicity left the company recently so we're working on who to speak with next to try to get a straight answer. And we're hearing about a wish list of directors, too. Including Steven Spielberg, who is also connected to Episode III in some specific way, believe it or not.

I hope he doesn't make them. Unless Eppy 3 is absolutely amazing, I'm losing faith in the great flanneled one. [face_plain]

So if there IS an Episode 7, does that mean the PFF will be camping out for 7 weeks before the premiere? ;)

all i can say is, i will NOT have chewie's death be invalidated by featuring in any sequel trilogy. that would render ALL the books no longer canon, and thusly make them as worth reading as, say, a Trek book.

I want Chewbacca DEAD! I want Anakin Solo DEAD! I want the Vong burning things to the GROUND!

    hrmm...interesting...

the sequels might not suck of Georgie steps aside and lets someone else direct...as it was with the best movie in the entire star wars series (that'd be ESB for all you nonbelievers)

Blackfeather, in the words of Corran Horn in I, Jedi:

    "Relax . . . breathe"

Take into account that Chewie dies like 20-25 years after EP4.

Who knows, they might even make it right and the EU wouldn't get screwed up . . . oh wait, it's Lucas. ;)

Ummmmm... If the story runs on freakin' CNN as an "official announcement" it ain't a flippin' spoiler! [face_plain]

Sorry for the outburst, but I can't tell you how many times I've heard people belly achin' about that one... Now, back to the speculation. :D Uncle Georgie told us in very plain English, WAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in 1992 that the reason he allowed for the publishing of the novels, Post-RotJ was because, although he was NOT going to be continuing the story, he felt the story did need some continuation and the novels seemed the best place for that. Now the man has a right to change his mind, and he a has a right to trample over the billion dollar industry HE created, but I just don't see the man cutting off his own nose to spite his face :p :)
