Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace & Episode IV: A New Hope both introduced a Skywalker's first time in space, & both films ended with a celebration. Will Episode VII introduce a new Skywalker & end with a celebration, as well?

    Ep.1 introduced Anakin Skywalker.
    Ep.4 introduced Luke Skywalker.
Ep.7 introduces Peter or Ben or SomeBodyCool Skywalker?

Ep.1 Anakin discovers that he is jedi material.
Ep.4 Luke discovers that his father is jedi material, & so is he.
Ep.7 a new Skywalker will discover the same?

    Ep.1 Anakin meets princess Padme
    Ep.4 Luke meets princess Leia
Ep.7 a new Skywalker meets a new princess?

Ep.1 Anakin goes to space for the first time & blows up a spaceship.
Ep.4 Luke goes to space for the first time & blows up a spaceship called the Death Star.
Ep.7 a new Skywalker goes to space for the first time & blows up something?

Ep.1 Anakin learns about Midi-chlorians & the force.
Ep.4 Luke learns about the force.
Ep.7 a new Skywalker learns about the force, & the Midi-chlorians & maybe an added thing?

Ep.1 Jedi Master Qui Gon Jin murdered by Darth Maul. Film ends with a funeral & celebration.
Ep.4 Jedi Master Kenobi murdered by Darth Vader. Film could have ended with a funeral.
Ep.7 Jedi Master Luke Skywalker murdered by a new guy?

Ep.1 Kenobi meets Anakin & begins training him.
Ep.4 Kenobi meets or re-meets Luke & begins training him.
Ep.7 Luke or somebody meets & begins training a new guy?

    Ep.1 pod-racing
    Ep.4 Millennium Falcon
    Ep.7 motorcycles?

Ep.1 on Tatooine, Darth Maul almost catches up with the Jin & the spaceship.
Ep.4 on Tatooine, Darth Vader almost catches up with the droids & the Millennium Falcon.
Ep.7 on Tatooine, a new bad guy almost catches up with the good guys?

    Ep.1 they save princess Padme.
    Ep.4 they save princess Leia.
Ep.7 they save a new princess?

    Ep.1 Jar Jar Binks
    Ep.4 Chewbacca
    Ep.7 a snake?

    Ep.1 space fight
    Ep.4 space fight
    Ep.7 space fight?

    Ep.1 secret base on Naboo
    Ep.4 secret rebel base
Ep.7 does the rebels or the empire or the sith or somebody get a secret base?

Ep.1 Jin is killed & becomes a force ghost
Ep.4 Kenobi is killed & becomes a force ghost
Ep.7 Luke is killed & becomes a force ghost?

    Ep.1 R2D2 & C3PO
    Ep.4 R2D2 & C3PO
    Ep.7 R2D2 & C3PO?

Ep.1 first scene is in space & that ends with Kenobi & Jin escaping to the nearby planet.
Ep.4 first scene is in space & that ends with R2D2 & C3PO escaping to the nearby planet.
Ep.7 first scene is in space & that ends with two guys escaping to a nearby planet?

No Lucas, no rhyming. Time to stop pretending this will be like the others.

    If my maths is correct:

    Ep 7 = Ep 1 + Ep 6, or
    = Ep 2 + Ep 5, or
    = Ep 3 + Ep 4

    Just saying :p

Interesting thread man. I think there will be some of the same patterns yes. Maybe not all the patterns you mention but alot of them. Good thread.

Can this thread end with you changing your profile pic? No one wants to look at that.

You almost need a Ph.D in Math and Physics to figure out these combinations. :D

Ep.4 - I think a better comparison would be the trench run on the Death Star, but I get what you mean.

Ep.6 If your father dies you become an ORPHAN, not a WIDOW. :p

I noticed that too but since he was drawing parallels between films and pointing out the patterns I let it slide. These are patterns we all know , he's just done a tasking job of putting it all together for us. I think he might be onto something too. These are major plot scenes or important, or well known scenes in the saga that seem to repeat .

I wouldn't want to take the time to write and think that all through. XD

If Michael Arnst (or whatever his name is) has to adhere to this ridiculous logic, he has his work cut out for him. But I seriously doubt he was handed a 'rhyming bible' when asked to start work.

Ep.2 Dooku cuts off the hand of Anakin.
Ep.3 Anakin cuts off the head of Dooku & Kenobi cuts off a whole lot off Anakin.
Later Anakin/Vader finds out that his wife died & he screams, "Noooooooo!"

Ep.5 Vader/Anakin cuts off the hand of Luke.
Ep.6 Luke cuts off the hand of Vader.
Anakin hears Luke scream "Noooooo" & saves the day before Luke dies, too, like his wife did.

It's kind of a formula for each series in the saga. There's a sort of circular logic between both series . A beginning and a ending. History repeats itself. The patterns are logical because they represent a continuation of events or a beginning, an end and a new beginning out of the old end and old beginnings. XD The plots curve and the details with it because it's the quickest and most logical path of least resistance for the plot to take. It acts as a continuum and is the beginning of the end of an old beginning. The saga has patterns because it takes the path of least resistance , apparently. Some patterns are symbolic though I think like the burning of vader, that was a good example that I hadn't thought of but I'm sure others have.

I do think that there will be some of the same patterns in 7, 8 and 9 . Or that their very well could be, even if not intentional. Some of the patterns you'd expect to find. Most of his examples are plot details. And some of the parallels are true, even if they seem obscure and take some reflection to notice. But they are still patterns of some sort that we can see if we really want to look for them.

I'm sure that if we look at the new sequel with some creativity and pry a little we will see some of the same patterns from 1-6 and 7-9 , or patterns amongst 7 , 8 and 9 as a series.

Am I the only person/one here that noticed that the Star Wars SW films just copy and recycle old ideas. I apologize for quoting Plinkett, Mike Stolkassa, and Red Letter Media, RLM, but It's Is Just Plain True. It's is like that dude George Lucas runs out of ideas and just copies and reuses the old ones!!!!!!!

I don't think it would be as much of an overt requirement for Arndt to follow this pattern, but if George (an admitted lover of artistic rhyming) has prepared frameworks for these films it would not be surprising.

Joey, You may be onto something. However, I'm not sure I want Luke to have a kid or be married. Its how his father was manipulated to the Dark Side. Also, IMO I don't think Ep7 will or should have a happy ending. I foresee civil war, chaos and alot of conflict that will probably run throughout the ST.

I'm all for the artistic rhyming thing. I thought it was great in the first 6 movies.

But maybe it's time for verse 2.

Some rhyming is required, and will be an important part of these new movies. Some of it will be obvious. Like the stuff in the original post. Some of it will be not quite as obvious.

Consider that according to George Lucas, THX 1138, American Graffiti and Star Wars are about the same thing. Basically, stepping out of your comfort zone.

So, the main thing I expect from all three movies are characters who have to leave their comfort zone. Especially Episode 7.
