I bought an old Yoda can from EBay which is full. No signs of leeks but I will be draining it soon. I am just a little worried about draining it as it cost me alot of money and I do not want to wreck it in the process...

    I know I am a big chicken :)

I'll put it this way... it will cost you a lot of money if you don't because it will explode! :p

Edit: Don't be a chicken! It's not too hard. You just need to be gentle. :)

The Yoda one. If I remembered correctly... You would have won a lot of money if you found it.

Well I just drained the can from the top, tab intact and no holes on the bottom and everything went well. Actually the gold Yoda cans were only
available in the US and if you found one and sent it back to the powers that be you would get $20. I bought mine from EBay at $30 US plus shipping. My wife is going to split my
throat :)whatever I am already marked for death anyways, there are 4 versions of the gold Yoda cans mt dew, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi, and pepsi One..... I think.

I bought those 4 Japanese EPII cans for $15
US and they were already drained from the top
    with the tap in place

    Any body else collect cans

How did you manage that? Did you just slightly pop the top?

Ahh, the memories. I remember spending a lot of time searching eBay in late '99 and I wanted all of the foreign cans. I never got any, though. :(

I just popped the top and made the opening bigger with a narrow long knife and then let it drain out. I then squeezed the tab back down against the top of the can so it looks almost perfect.

There was so much stuff when EP1 came out. Actually I have EP1 pop cans from several countries.

I am a can collector and the Pepsi cans will start to leak. You should try and drain them
as soon as you can before you have problems.

You should try and drain it. The easiest way
is to open the can slowly so that you hear the fiss sound and then stick a sharp object
under the tab and let the can drain out in the sink over night.

I know a can specialist who I can put you in contact with who can also help you out...

    Mike,
Thanks for the help. Maybe i should drain it. What if i put it in a plastic case? I'm sure they make displays for cans.

I had a box of around 35-40 cans which I never drained. When I moved around a year ago, I went to pick up the box expecting it to weigh a ton. Much to my surprise, it was incredibly light. Only one can (at the bottom of the box thankfully) had sprung a major leak. Two other cans had the light sticky ring around the bottom. I'd say of the 35-40 cans, only 10-12 still had anything left in them, and most of those were down to around 1/4 full. All the rest had evaporated without ever being drained. I just went through and cleaned the cans' exteriors, found another box and lined it with a plastic trash bag, placed the cans that still had drink in them on the bottom and sealed them back up. I have a gold Yoda can in my curio cabinet and it's around 1/4 full also. It had a sticky ring on the bottom about 6 months ago which I wiped off and haven't had another problem with since.
