List what you want the script or film to contain or not.

Do bring back the Millineum Falcon

Don't cast Jimmy Smits (I only think of him as Nero the Pimp from Sons of Anarchy now;))

Don't have any alien characters with the letters X or Z in their name and don't have alien characters where you tell what their powers are which will then let the audience know that that power will get used at some later point (yes, I'm looking at you , Xizor).

Do bring back Bib Fortuna, but not until Episode 12. Then he'll have the unusual distinction of being the only character to be only in Episodes 1, 6 and 12.

I've said it before and I will say it again: Do NOT include cloned/resurrected Vader/Palpatine/Maul/Fett.

    In addition:

DO give Mark Hamill a role as an ageing Jedi Knight.
DO show the Millennium Falcon at some point.
DO bring back Han and Leia, but DON'T make it too cheesy and DON'T be afraid to kill-off Luke, Han or Leia if it serves the story better than keeping them needlessly alive for marketing purposes.
DO show us some familiar places, but don't overdo it. Make sure we see some new planets, cities etc.

DON'T have every single character saying: ''I have a bad feeling about this.''
DON'T have stupid, gimmicky new weapons and/or powers for force-wielders ... Jedi, Sith or otherwise.

Finally, don't make me grumpy about Star Wars!

Don't, for the love of god, make yet another Star Wars movie that becomes the popular definition of what a bad movie is.

Do-Have an amazing and lengthy Dog Fight Scene between ace pilots

Don't-Include a love story without giving it the time it needs to breathe.....Or at least give subtle clues the characters love has been building for a while(a la Han and Leia in ESB)

Don't make any reference to the prequels. Don't have any of the same actors -especially Hayden. Don't have cgi more than you have to.

    Do have the Empire.
Do have banged up ships, and a world that feels lived in.
    Do have Luke Skywalker!

Do: make a good Star Wars movie.

Don't: make a bad Star Wars movie.

I agree with the no clones or resurrections of characters who're supposed to be dead (yes, I'm looking at you, Chewbacca, you big walking carpet ;) ). And no "return of the Empire" ballyhoo, TYVM.

I also agree with the "Big Four" reprising their roles as much older versions of themselves.

Do or do not, there is no try.

    This is a great list!

DO pass the torch to Solos and/or Skywalkers.
DO make references to the first six films in subtle ways.
DO have the line "I have a bad feeling about this."
    DO have Chewie come back.

DO NOT cast anyone named Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Corey Feldman, Shia Lebouf . . . you get the idea.
DO NOT have a Twilight-Hunger Games love triangle.
DO NOT have resurrections! I know it's been said alot but it bears repeating.
DO NOT include or follow strictly to EU.

If I paid 4 billion for anything I would do whatever I want with it. I say Walt Disney execs should do as they please and focus on the children of today, wasting resourse on trying to make adults my age like the disney trilogy will only lead to anger, over critism & immaturity. Make the disney trilogy for the kids.

I agree to an extent. They should and probably will aim it at families, pretty much like the OT. I felt the PT was a bit too Emo. Ha,ha

I don't expect anything from the disney set. Some want black, others want white, some expect gray. The minute you start to WANT b EXPECT things to go how you want them to be, that's when people start to act entitled when they are actually guilty of wanting too much & raising their own expections. Star Wars belongs to Disney now & they don't have to do anything or feature anything from the GL6 movies. Learn to let go or suffer disapointment

    DO:

Center the story around new characters. If the Big 3 are included, it should be in supporting roles.

Make some reference to Vader's redemption and the idea that the dark path no longer need to "forever dominate your destiny."

If the Big 3 are included, do not hire new actors, use the existing ones.

Kill off any of the OT main characters if that's what works for the story.

Incorporate at least some existing EU instead if retconning every published book since 1991.

Include "I have a bad feeling about this."

Include R2 and 3PO in all their bantering "I just don't understand human behavior" glory, with R2 saving 3PO's ass several times.

Write a script that includes multiple lines worthy of Han Solo.

Have someone use the line "Where did you dig up that old fossil?"--in reference to Han Solo.

    DON'T:

Dig up old fossils. Let dead characters lie.

Clone anyone or anything. Kamino went out of business years ago or something.

    Include Craptis.

Include any reference to the "Chosen One" or any other prophecy, or the idea that "destiny" is determined by anything other than personal choice.

Include any love triangle. If people like that ****, the Twilight movies are on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Do include a heroic moment for artoo.
    Do make us laugh.
    Do give us memorable dialogue.
    Do make everything look old.
