Do use "Force Ghosts"

Don't have a Pod Race

 

Do make the Mandelrion's team up with Imperial remnants, slur the Jedi and perhaps flame publc concerns, suspicion's regarding them. And promise the public to protect them from any repeat of the past.

 

DO NOT rely on CGI to tell the story.
DO NOT reboot the soundtrack (still not sure what to think about Hans Zimmer scoring Man of Steel)
DO NOT fail me
DO NOT make me angry you wouldn't like me when I'm angry

DO have a reliable cast
DO get a composer that sounds similar to John Williams
DO declare pizza
DO what must be done

 

DO get John Williams to compose.

 

Do make the movie focused on Kyle Katarn.

 

Yes of course, if he still wants to do it.

 

Less dependence on CGI
no more 'made for 7 year old school children with special needs' themes
no droid armies that act like the three stooges
no child actors reading their lines off the camera lens
no contrived love stories that look like a gay man and lesbian woman trying to court eachother
no writing in cute fluffy characters in order to sell toys to 6 year olds
no targeting the entire series to 6-12 year olds
no more award ceremonies
less shiny bright polished sets
no more cameo's from extremely famous actors unless it's Han/Luke/Leia
no more C3PO- he should be destroyed in episode 7, keep R2D2 though, maybe make C3PO into a human/cyborg sith LOL (jk)

lol, ya, it was just my way of saying the two people had no chemistry on screen and the writing was doomed from the start. The whole thing looked forced, unnatural. I could also use a different example, maybe a women who only speaks Chinese falling in love with a man who only speaks French. You would probably experience a sort of 'lack of realism' in that scenario yes?

 

Do continue the story being told in 1-6
Do include the original cast
Do use Force Ghosts (I would say only one), but only with the exact same purpose and frequency of the OT.
Do introduce us to the next generation of Skywalkers and/or Solos, but ONLY if this trilogy sets up a sensible X-XII in which they would star.

Don't cater to fanboys (not even me )

Don't ruin lightsabers with new "versions" and colors. Granted Maul's double blade was cool, but they ruined it by using it in pre-release materials. NOBODY should have seen that blade until their rear end was in a seat at the theatre. That would have knocked some socks off!!

Don't clone anyone for any reason.

Great post! You came up with some original stuff. Yeah, I totally agree. Disney/LFL doesn't need to come up with anythig whacky. The lightsaber tradition has been established:

Jedi = Blue & Green
Sith = Red

I don't wnat to start seeing Lightnaunchucks, for cripes' sake!

 

That's worse then the Tonfa things from TFU.

 

DO: include Luke Skywalker in any form suits the story (wise, old and alive or a force ghost).
have choreographed lightsaber battles with distinct martial styles like the PT and not banging sticks.
have John Williams or someone who can compose like his symphonic, epic, wagneric style.
come up with an original story honoring Lucas's legacy, meaning a story that is not dated in any form, does not follow any trend of the era of production, does not have cinematic gimmicks that would look foolish in
a decade, does rely upon mythical archetypes, does not "shouts" american or any other contemporary civilization.

DON'T: include Hand or Leia. Then you 'd HAVE to kill one of them, and THAT would be pointless.
follow ANY EU story. At all. Ever. From ANY media.
include a clone or a resurrected character, ANY character, major on minor. The dead, or the presumed dead, MUST stay dead. Forever.
cast any actor, male of female, young or old, that "belongs" to contemporary trend.
have Sith. Rogue Jedi, yes, Force users that grew up themselves and became criminals, yes, a new order of dark users or gray users, yes. The Sith Are Destroyed.

 

Do try to recapture the feel of the OT
Do use CG to fill in the blanks.
Don't use CG to cut corners.
Don't make too many leaps in the continuity.

 

DO NOT make a Sequel Trilogy...
DO leave SW and the EU alone...

 

Bring on the heavy metal & introduce new battle guitars to the brand. Give the new disney movies that good ole disney feel. Get Elton John or Phil Collins to do the score. I would totally love more creativity on the disney set. Upgrade the cgi to 1080p, start using. More than blue & green screens. I'm glad star wars is being reinvented. George deserves some rest.

 

Phil Collins doing the score? This is not Disney's Lion King.

 

Of course, that's subjective as hell.

Do: John Williams (Wait, what? I mean music not literally)

 

Do: Allow the characters to develop. People don't go through enormous, life-altering events unfazed. Static, generic badasses are boring.

Don't: Throw in a contrived romance to "appeal" to certain segments of the audience. Characters can love each other without being "in love" with each other and if there's going to be a romance, there'd better be a good reason to take time out to show it.
