models dont vastly change in star wars. there are some big differences in ancient sith time period ships, and ships in episode 6. But that is 5,000 years. 30 years is not a major difference in this universe.

 

I don't think it's unrealistic to think that after 30 years X-Wings could still be used. Think about where we are with automobiles. Look back at cars from 1984 and in reality they don't look that much different from cars of 2014. Sure the edges are more rounded, maybe they're a little longer or wider, and the engine is more efficient but the basic design of a car or minivan or truck is still the same...4 wheels, front seat/back seat, steering wheel and pedals, airbags, trunk, engine in the front under a hood, etc. Even the basic concepts of the engine and the entire drive system aren't vastly different...more efficient, but they pretty much look very similar. They haven't reinvented the car or come up with some new invention to supplant it. I don't see why that would happen in the ST compared to the OT. Sure I bet they have found a way to make the X-Wing more efficient or maybe they have changed a couple things, but it's not unrealistic to think that they would still be using the same basic design of a spacecraft. If we're talking between the PT and ST, then yeah technology should have advanced a good bit. Cars are much different now than they were in 1954.

 

And they're gonna be even more different in 2085.

 

I think this film will be fine and visually blow our minds. I honestly believe that this film will satisfy all but the most jaded of Star Wars fans, and will draw in thousands of more fans to the overflowing Star Wars fan base. Many of us will cheer, others will cry sweet tears as they fail to contain their Star wars love, and all but those who have allowed the Dark Side to consume them will rejoice. December of 2015 will usher in a new era of Star Wars on the silver screen, and I for one, will be whole again.

Some might consider my love for Star Wars to be unnatural.

Star Wars has always been epic in my opinion. I don't share any of the disappointment others have felt.

Star Wars Holiday Special is the one true Star Wars.
