The only way the lightsabre could reveal Luke's location is if Luke had regained possession of it and then left it behind with a message inside.

Now I find out it was actually shot!

It goes to prove that sometimes even the most outlandish, dumb rumors can be true.

 

Makes you wonder if they will retain the general idea of this if they do explain how Maz found the saber.

This opening was changed before filming began, so we'll probably never know whether it would have looked more convincing on screen than it sounds on paper.

 

Jeez, I hope not. I want a full novel on that lightsaber's journey from the day Anakin built it to the moment Rey touched it in TFA.

 

You know, people were saying the same thing to me regarding Starkiller. But it turned out to be even dumber than my expectations (because I didn't expect them to hang a lampshade on it).

 

Including descriptions of all the kids that are killed with it

The rate of dumb they are going here it wouldn't surprise me if Kylo tried to use the saber to resurrect Vader.

Also the whole Rey is reborn Anakin stuff seems to be true. Because why else give the saber such a prominent role? When she fights Kylo the saber helps her reconnect with Chosen One spirit inside herself.

No, opening shot would be the description of the first thing we see, regardless of whether it was actually filmed.

 

I think hes describing what the opening was going to be too.

 

At best, it's not clear. But you'd never know that with all these CONFIRMED news articles that are everywhere. Screenplays describe shots, so it's entirely plausible that Mark is describing the opening shot based on the script he was reading. Otherwise, he's talking about an early cut of the movie, and it's rare that actors get to see these (outside of their specific scenes for ADR).

 

I stayed away from most spoilers for Episode 7, but this one of the few that I read and I cringed. I ended up loving the movie, but thank god they didn't end up using this idea!

Sounds terrible. But, every script ever written is utter toss in its early drafts.
