Episode III Oscar Nom for Makeup

Episode III lost, so is this the forum to complain? Was a cool piece they showed of how the makeup evolved Ian McDiarmid into Darth Sidious.

The academy does everything it can to keep anything GL related from winning a Oscar. We all know why

 

Kong was awesome, but it's FX were nothing in the wake of ROTS. I was surprised to see Sidious when makeup was mentioned, I thought for sure it would show crispy Anakin crawling up the slope.

After Lucas said that, do you really think those old guys were going to show any respect for Lucas?
But of course, the Oscars and the people who run it are a fine, noble institution. Honest. Lucas is just a brainless moron out for money who's company cranked out subpar everything in Sith.
At least, that's what some people will certainly cling to.

Exactly which old guys are you speaking of?

The voting bodies for Oscar categories such as makeup, effects, costume design, etc, are peers, colleagues and fellow union members of the nominees in that category, not some cadre of Mr. Burns look-a-likes sitting in a chamber wringing their hands and cackling evilly.

The reason ROTS lost in the only category it was nominated is because it wasn't the best achievement this year. There are many agendas at play this year at the Oscars, but I highly doubt one of them is to screw Lucas.
