I called the theater when they went on sale and they said it did not matter, as long as you get the 12:01 showing.

You can go into any theater you want. Especially if you are with our group. They are aware we are coming in Force.

Someone on the So Cal 501st said they bought their ticket but the person at the theater said it wasn't showing in the digital theater.

That doesn't make any sense to me. It's one of the few totally digital films around; what else would they show?

I was talking to somoene a bit ago who wanted his first viewing of Ep III to be in digital.. So he said he called Edwards and the person that he talked to also said they were not showing the movie digital.. At least on openening night.. They "might" get the digital print later.

Gah.. So, the question is this:

Should we go ahead with the tickets we have reserved, or perhaps we should each buy tickets through fandango?

Also, if they're saying they're not getting the digital print, what was the deal with them reserving us 100 seats in the digital theater?

I'm guessing the people at the box office are saying that because they don't see the digital tickets on sale yet in their system.

I just bought my tickets last night...the ppl at Edwards said they aren't getting the digital print for sure. The manager said he just called LucasFilms yesterday, but it's not 100% they'll get it opening night, so I just bought some midnight tickets off Fandango.

Bingo! I talked Mira Mesa Edwards into getting a digital print but it isn't in their system yet which is a good thing. I am trying to negotiate renting out the entire theatre through the company that handles that. Both Brendan and James are aware of the specifics.

Please don't speculate on this thread regarding what is going on, because it only creates a lot of anxiety in people. Unless something is posted from either Brendan, James, or myself, please consider it speculation.

That said, I encourage ALL of you to buy tickets to the midnight showing NOW either at the box office or fandango, in order to safeguard yourselves if you are at all worried about getting tickets for the midnight showing. When the digital tickets do go on sale, you can always return your tickets to the theatre for a refund, OR sell them. Do you really think they will be difficult to sell? I think not.

Yup, buying tickets now as a backup is a very very good idea. I heard that Theater 9 is very close to selling out (or already is) and the box office tickets are now for Theater 10.

Mara_Jade_Fan, I saw in another posting that you said you were down buying midnight show tickets today. Does that mean it's too late to pay you via paypal for a couple of tickets for Padamanda and I?

I was not buying midnight show tickets today. I have not bought any midnight show tickets for myself. I have bought tickets for May 19th at 11:15am at the local theatre by my house. I WAS however at the Mira Mesa theatre today inquiring once again about getting the digital print and reserving our tickets, AND the possibility of booking the entire theatre. I've been working on getting tickets the past several days instead of packing for Celebration. LOL.. Here it is 12:30am and I haven't packed yet and I have to leave in 5 1/2 hours. GAH! If you could paypal me ASAP I would really appreciate it as I have put out $950 toward the purchase of tickets today, and only slightly over 1/2 of those tickets have I beeen paid for. Thanks! ;)

I'll be spending tomorrow working with the theater's corporate people and the theater management itself, and with the help of some of our longtime SDSWSers we shall prevail and get the tickets taken care of.

    ...I will report back tomorrow.

I've been bouncing back and forth with Regal Cinemas all day long, there were some snags in the process (Intel decided to buy out most of the digital showings across the country for their own corporate event), but Regal's corporate office has been going out of their way to get us set up with another digital print, or to move Intel out of theatre #8 so we can have it. Here's what I just got back from them (good news!!) :

    "Dear Brendan:

I have submitted the request for your event and am waiting for the approval from my film department. Intel definitely moved to auditorium # 11, so we should be able to accommodate your request for the digital print.

As soon as I have final approval, I will send the contract to you. You will be billed at $10.75 pp (minimum guarantee of 150 people). How many people are you expecting?

    I'll be in touch soon.

    Thanks,

    Lauren Metz
    Sr. Event Specialist
    Regal CineMeetings and Events"

The tickets will be slighly more than we anticipated, but to have OUR OWN PRIVATE DIGITAL SCREENING, I think it's worth the extra buck or so. :)

I will update more tomorrow when I hear back from Regal again.

Oooh, that's *much* happier sounding news than what they kept telling us this morning. Yay!

I will hold on to the tickets I bought this morning until this is finalized and paid for, though. :)

Just a question: Where is the Regal cinema?

(One of my student bosses is going... then word got out at my work that I'm going at midnight... OYE... Don't be surprised if I keep asking for more). :p

Edwards Mira Mesa is right off the 15. I live all the way out in east county, so I take 15 north to Mira Mesa Blvd. You can see the theater on the left side of the freeway. Make a left off the freeway, go straight until the first light you can make a left on. And then it's, once again, a left turn into the parking lot. :)

Ooooh, I so hope I'm not too late for this... I've tried checking Fandango, and they record all midnight showings at Edwards Mira Mesa as sold out.

My name is Jason. I'm new to the board and the group, though I might have met some of you at Comic Con or other movie showings. I lagged in getting some tickets when I first saw them available on Sunday night, and now, I'm out of luck.

If there is *any* way that I could join your group (even just one ticket!) for a midnight showing at Mira Mesa, you would have my undying gratitude! I know it's not normal to trust someone you don't even know... but I swear that I'm good for it, and I will pay you extra for your trouble!

Help me, San Diego Star Wars Society... you're my only hope!

    (yeah, I went there)
