ST Episode VIII interactions and dialogue

I was wondering if anybody has any specific character interactions or dialogue they want in Episode VIII. We know the OT characters, and now that we are familiar with characters from TFA who will also return in VIII, let's see what you want. Rey, Finn, and Poe in the Falcon? R2 and BB-8 making fun of 3PO? Luke and Leia's reunion? Luke and Nien Nunb reunion? The more specific, the better.

Rey's first words to Luke, offering the lightsaber back to him: "Luke, you're not alone. I'm not ready for this either, but we need you. Please. Take it. What calls to me... belongs to you."

 

And Luke says "But I am your father, now go to your room."

 

Opening scene on the mountain top.

Rey holds out Luke's lightsaber.

Luke: Where did you get that?

Rey: That's a story for another time.

Luke Force-pushes Rey off the mountain.

 

"Ready the Supreme Leader's Bongo".

 

Luke:....
Rey: So who talks first? You talk first? I talk first?
Luke: *mumbling* The old woman gave it to you...
Rey: It's just very hard to understand you with all that...beard.

It's too bad Han isn't around, cuz I can just imagine Rey and Poe getting to know each other and trying to top each other's relentless optimism and cheerfulness and idealism. Han's eyes would roll all the way around to the back of his head.

 

I'm going to attempt to make this thread happen again since I have some more ideas. Interactions and dialogue can be serious, fun, or completely out-of-the-box as long as it's what YOU want to see. (Not sure if there's a thread similar to this; if there is, a merge would be cool)

- Finn and Poe infiltrating a First Order base. Their escape from the Star Destroyer is my favorite scene in TFA. It's cool seeing Poe in awe of the size of the Star Destroyer when he's in the hangar and seeing a Rebel fly a TIE fighter with a Stormtrooper was too. Them going into a First Order facility could make for some good scenes and give them a chance to have some good moments like Han and Finn had while they were on Starkiller Base.

- Luke confronting Kylo like he did with Vader on Endor. Luke reminds him that Vader failed and Anakin succeded. He's not Kylo; he's Ben, a Solo and a Skywalker. It's simple and a bit of an obvious interaction, but Luke could say a lot here and bring up some things from between ROTJ and TFA that could get to Kylo, and if he doesn't listen to Luke at first, I'm sure whatever Luke says to Kylo will mean something to Rey.

- On the flip side, it would be interesting to see Kylo say something that really gets to Luke. Not sure what it would be though. Maybe he could bring up something new about the Knights of Ren or the Jedi.

- Luke and Poe pilot talk. Not going to happen, but I like the idea of them talking about their missions. On comparing snow planet battles: "Yes, that was back when we were Rogue Squadron. But this time, they attacked our base. You should've seen what we did to take down those walkers." "Harpoons and tow cables, right?" "That's right. It was a mess."

- More talk of the Force and the Jedi. Luke with Rey. Snoke with Kylo. I can't think of anything specific but just more of it. Galen and Lyra's talk of the Force in Catalyst adds to them and the importance of the Force. Galen: "The Force derives from nature. Against such chaos, even the Jedi are capable of accomplishing only so much." Lyra's stands out a lot. She and two others are searching for kyber crystals. Lyra says, "The Jedi would say that the Force is strong here." Lyra's friend Nari asks the other member of the group, "Can you feel it, Has?" Perplexed, Has asks, "What am I supposed to be looking for?" Lyra replies with a gentle laugh, "You're not looking for anything. You're feeling." I think something as simple as her "Trust the Force" when she gives Jyn the necklace adds a lot to both her and Jyn and to the Force's importance in Rogue One. Moments like these would be great in Episode VIII. Let me know if you have any ideas for the Force.

 

Luke and Anakin's ghost having a conversation could be a fascinating scene.

Anakin's ghost confronting Kylo would also be something I'd love to see.

I'd like to see Luke hop back into an X-wing, while R2 is being lowered in, and say "just like old times huh?" Or something to that effect. Some people might call that pandering to nostalgia but meh I don't care. I just want Luke flying his X-wing again. Imagine the hush in the hanger as the legend himself walks in. Would be a great moment.

Actually a scene with Rey flying an X-wing into battle would be pretty sweet too. She wears that helmet after all. Could have Luke and Poe giving her pointers. Some banter ensues. Could be fun.


I also want Luke and Leia to reunite. I want Luke to say he's sorry he couldn't stop Ben from falling, and Leia to hug Luke and tell him she never blamed him. Just a quiet, emotional reunion. I'll bring Kleenex.

 

I don't know why, but I want Luke to have a brand new star cruiser of his own. I love X-wings as much as the next guy, but got my fill of them in RO and TFA (and I imagine we'll see more among the Resistance in VIII).

 

I also think Luke has a new ship, because X-Wing without R2 is impossible and he didn't have R2 for the last years. Maybe he has an A-Wing now, the one we saw with Mark.

 

One of the only misfires of TFA was Rey and Poe having no interaction... ?? I would like to see this rectified in this next film

Rey: This was yours, and your father's before you. I bring it back to you now.
Luke: That lightsaber has been a part of my family for a long time. I pass it to you now. It is yours.
Rey: I don't understand.
Luke: Come with me my dear daughter. All of your questions will be answered in due time.
Rey: (tears begin to well in her eyes). Father?
Luke: (A subtle smile comes over his face). Yes, my dear. Yes.

Finn and KMT interaction. Since I expect them to be ST's romance, I'm most interested in this one and how they'll defer from Han/Leia and Anakin/Padme (it's a given they'll be different from this romance). There's also a promise, based on their stunt double's incredible show reels, that they'll be the action duo too. So very exciting.

 

More Poe and Kylo interactions

 

11-4D You may be onto something but possibly in IX. SW movies have never done reluctant good guys-bad guy team-up. So lets say Kylo Ren ends up at the Resistance base at the end of VIII (makes sense cause there was a plan for Kylo/Leia confrontation and that place is the most workable setting). If they didn't shoot the confrontation already, than they could technically make Poe the person who confronts Kylo in Leia's name (we still don't know how they'll handle her character) since he was very close with Leia and is the leader of the Resistance. But either way, that would give the good guys a chance to interact with the bad guy which should be super fun.

 

I've said this in another thread, but: Force Ghosts Anakin and Obi-Wan showing up to counsel Luke or Rey but spending their time arguing like an old married couple. Comic relief!

 

New character: That ship's a piece of junk.

Rey: You know, you're right. I think I'll get a new one.

Eeyore freak I adore that strip and since Rian was inspired by the pulpy fun of Three Outlaw Samurai for Jedi section of the movie, I could see some fun Ghost conferencing instead of doom and gloom.

KYLO: He has never lied to me, he wants me to be powerful, he wants me to be strong unlike you!

DISEMBODIED VOICE OF ANAKIN: Your mother is the strongest person I've ever known!

FINN: That was close, I thought you weren't coming.

POE:...Of course I was coming, I love you!

FINN: I know.
