ST Episode VIII Toys, Collectibles, Action Figures, etc. (Including Force Friday Discussion)

I am an example,. I bought loads of Hasbro Black Series, but there is a wait for the face printing tech they showcased. So many like myself are waiting up.

And also there is a limit to how many Stormtrooper variations one can buy....

 

Wow, they cant even get the scheduled products to shelves? I guess the chances of seeing fan favorite characters is becoming more slim.

 

I actually managed to get my hand on the Disney parks exclusive kylo ren crossguard saber

 

I would like to see Ben Solo's blue lightsaber made. But it won't be. Not with the pathetic place of the toys/merchandise right now.

 

I have yet to ever buy a Star Wars action figure. It looks like that tradition will continue with this movie.

 

Still waiting for a Crait Luke. Hopefully sometime this year.

 

I want evil Luke from Kylo's memory.

we will likely get a "Jedi Academy Luke" and i will have to add the crazy eyes.

Toy sales are up when a new line is released. At this point, there are only so many stormtroopers and different versions of the same characters that one may want to buy.

I have already 5 or 6 versions of Rey. Do I need to hurry to buy another one, just because she has darker clothes in TLJ? Or yet another Kylo, this time with shorter clothes?

We know these toys will be selling for a long time, and Hasbro will increase the quality by adding face printing technology. So, unless we are talking about collectors, people just are satisfied having ONE version of their favorite new characters.

We have to take this into account.

 

That never stopped the previous 85 versions of Luke, Vader, Han, Leia, etc. from selling. There were also brand new characters and vehicles in TLJ line.

Collector's? Really? When I was a kid I wasn't satisfied with 1 version. I'd like to see evidence of your assertion so I can take it into account.

 

Oh yes, for sure, they will keep releasing new versions, but the volumes will be lower.

Personally speaking, and I guess many here would feel the same, I bought so many TFA stuff, that now I don't see the need to buy too many new things from TLJ, except the new bomber, the Crait speeder, a standard Jedi Robe Luke, a levitating Luke if it is released, Snoke, Rose and Leia... and that's it.

I bought t-shirts, mugs, etc, but not so many new toys.

 

Market fatigue is the real reason. We're seeing huge product launches happen every 12 months instead of every 36 months. Hasbro, during the PT years, as a case in point, used to be able to rest the SW range by offering a reduced, collector focused range, with much smaller productions runs for each of the two years following a movie release. That isn't happening now. It's an interesting problem for Disney's consumer products people. IMO, they'd be better pulling back from the huge annual launches, or at least limiting the range and volume of product launched at any one time.

 

Star Wars can only go up so much before fatigue kicks in.

 

Can I ask my fellow SW collectors a question?

What are the chances we will ever get a Crait Luke Hot Toys?

I would love to hear your opinions on this.
