I hope they actually do things, though. SW has had a long history of having characters and aliens and whatnot that look the part, yet do nothing whatsoever (Captain Phasma being the most recent example). I hope these guys break that trend. Of course, now I've jinxed it.

 

I think they will at least fight Kylo. Whether that will be as part of Snoke's training for Kylo or in anger later on (or both?) I think they will do something.

I'll be amazed if they weren't partly inspired by samurai fencing armour.

I sometimes wonder if they are the ceremonial costumes of the KoR - but then I think they'd still be called the KoR and not Praetorians. I hope we do see the KoR again. They were a really cool glimpse of a wider galaxy and backstory in TFA and it would be good if they weren't totally jettisoned.

I don't think the praetorian guards are human. They don't have any way of seeing or talking through the masks.

 

yeah, that would be cool, show us such a flashback with Luke destroying the KoR and then in VIII/IX he is dealing with Praetorians.

I still wonder if I'll buy my 1st ever SW toys with TLJ. We'll see could happen.

 

I think some (most?) of the KOR intel was dubious. In this pic, for example, the presumed knight could easily be Rey in her poncho with her staff or Luke with his stick.

the praetorian guard have samurai vibes, and now I remember Rian named Three Outlaw Samurais like one of his movies reference for TLJ,in the merchandise(pinball machine) are only three guards

 

Maybe the helmets provide a HUD inside for the wearer to see?
