I¡¦ve been gone for¡K how long? Almost a year, eh? How terribly crass of me. The reason for my prolonged absence was that ¡V I changed jobs, became a freelance journalist and movie reviewer ¡V which kinda swallowed all my mornings, afternoons and nights. <shakes head> But I shall make amends by posting now.

For those who nominated Epistles for the Humor Award ¡V Hugs and thanks for voting. I deeply appreciate it.

ctt: Thank you. I¡¦m glad that the tone of the letters has remained intact. Now, if only I can finish the job properly ¡K

dianethx : Unfortunately, I think I have kept you waiting too long for the ending ¡V for which I apologize. Thank you for the wonderful words. Shall post the ending now.

Musing : Indeed we know the background, so to speak. ?º And Xanatos, in keeping with his spotless lineage, is a frequent user of Gah, of course. Thanks!

ardavenport: Obi-Wan is finding his feet, and er, learning his boundaries, I think. With Qui-Gon you have to start early. Qui and Xan, of course, take a delight in rubbing each other the wrong way, of course. :)

    Lindoriel: Thanks!

    Arwen-Jade_Kenobi: Thank you. :)

padawan3: Thanks for the kind words.

Valairy_Scot : Heh, Heh. I like wrecking keyboards. Thanks!

    Musing: :D

corellian-jedi: Little Obi¡¦s been biting his fingers off, I¡¦m afraid. Let¡¦s see what happens. Thanks for writing in.

    Valiowk: Coming up. Thanks!

OBI-LOVE: More soon, yes. Thanks for reading.

padawan3: I¡¦ve been promoted to Council member?! Whoa. It is remiss of me. I shall make reparations at once!

Lindoriel: Shall answer your prayers ¡K now. :D

    Knight DeCrion,

This is an acknowledgement of the written report submitted by you on the happenings on the surface of Mersa, your dealings with Ambassador of Melin, and its repercussions, together with an account of its inhabitants and the process of initiating first contact with said inhabitants. This acknowledgement follows your debriefing in the presence of Council Members Even Piell, Oppo Rancisis, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Plo Koon, presided by Master Yoda, dated 280.45.21, at 1800 HRs. The debriefing also included details of the escort of Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, apprenticed to Jedi Council Member Qui-Gon Jinn, with the assistance of Captain Merrill Solo, and the accounts of Jedi Knights Kelle and Gol.

Upon careful consideration of all details given and deliberation on the parts of the above-mentioned Masters regarding the mission to Mersa, it is the opinion of the High Council that much research and observation will be required before further contact is initiated with this planet, in future. It is also the High Council¡¦s opinion that the actions of the Ambassador of Melin, and the reasons for said actions require investigation. These matters will be scheduled to be taken up during forthcoming senate sessions.

The Council takes exception to the presence of Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi with you during this extremely sensitive mission, without the authorization and approval of the High Council, as well as Padawan Kenobi¡¦s Master, Qui-Gon Jinn. Rea

    A post! A post! At last! [face_dancing] =D=

Qui-Gon as eloquently sarcastic as ever, and Obi-Wan back to his usual spelling. Must have lost his dictiono-gram. Probably a good thing, if he's been learning new words from Captain Solo. At least he's spared knowing exactly what they mean. :D

This really brightened my day, ithesock. Looking forward to the conclusion.

Seeing an update from you is a unique treat. Your writing is so distinct and just wonderful. :)

And this post was hilarious. [face_laugh] I love Qui-Gon's tone when he writes to Xanatos. The kind of biting sarcasm reserved for someone you truly care about. :D And I marvel yet again at how well you write children. And how well you write children writing.

I missed this so very much. I was afraid that you were gone for good but am immensely relieved that you are back.

    Loved this!!!!

I love that Obi's spelling continues to deteriorate when he can't get someone to help him with it. Such a cute kid.

I have to wonder what Qui-Gon is really going to do once he gets his hands on Xan!

An update - wonderful! I love this story and am thrilled that you're back. The characterizations are incredible. It's easy to picture the expressions on Qui-Gon's and Xan's faces. Your Obi's writing skills are too cute!

    Keep up the excellent writing.:)

Aaaaah, I look forward to seeing what will become of Xanatos after his fortnight of time off. Qui-Gon is so affectionately sarcastic in his missives.

And it looks like little Obi-Wan really likes 'Nite Xan'. :) He just has a lot of trouble spelling it.

Valairy_Scot: Thanks :) Yep, you can play with him too.

    Musing: Thanks :)

LuvEwan: Love your reviews. And glad I can write children - I'm always worried about doing them right.

dianethx: Lol. Qui-Gon will have a great dal to say and do - and I doubt Xan will stick around to hear them all. He'll be consumed by other issues . :) Thanks!

dimyavie: Hopefully, now that this is done, I'll get aroudn to the others as well. Yhanks for reading. :)

    Nimloth: Thank you.

    OBI-LOVE: Thanks a lot.

ctt and Persephone_Kore: Thanks so much.:)

ardavenport: He really does. But like any other kid, he's also aware of the dynamics between QG and X, so he makes sure he talks less and writes more. :) Always diplomatic, our Obi. Thanks!

ClaudiaR: He is, isn't he? I'd love to play with him all day, but Qui-Gon won't let me. :0 Thank you.

Well. I started this 2 years ago - at which point I thought it'd just take wweeks. And here it's dragged on and on and on ... and now it's finally come to an end. Thanks for sticking with this and laughing - it's what made me come back and finish, no matter how long the gaps. You guys rock.

    Qui-Gon,

One?s Old Master (note the particular emphasis on Old) as a Council Member presents certain aggravating moments, as you doubtless understand. It would make not a particle of difference, I know, to argue that my presence at the exotic resort (name withheld on purpose, although you would abuse all your powers in rooting it out) is completely justified, as I am investigating the presence of a particularly important female entity, which may prove beneficial to a certain exalted personage in the future ? myself.

Counseling your little brat to write about depraved resorts and charmers is disgusting ? how could you poison young minds against one of the greatest Knights in the Republic?s history? I see that I shall have to make sure that Obi-Wan?s tender innocence and mental health is protected by the presence of one of his age-mates who will pass on the benefits of a far superior master. I intend to cast no slight on your teachings, Qui-Gon ? A DeCrion never stoops to slights; he merely corrects.

Your concern for my speedy return which is of immense benefit to the Order gratifies me; even you, shortsighted as you are regarding my achievements, cannot help but acknowledge my greatness. As the bounteous Goddess Xactgl of Telos pronounces in The Lesser Works of ? but your mind is in no position to receive such a prodigious amount of knowledge and I shall desist.

Your holo-recording of the meeting with Obi-Wan was completely unnecessary and waste of a Council member?s time and resources, and unbecoming of a Jedi Master. What was the necessity, pray, of my watching a six-year-old hurtling across the spaceport, stop in front of you, try to accomplish a bow that almost toppled him over (while you maintain your blasted Jedi dignity by offering an equally stiff bow), walk sedately to your rooms, and in the safe privacy of your chambers, envelope him in a crushing hug? I swear I saw the boy?s face turn blue with the pressure on his windpipe. Not that he seemed to mind, the little brat. I believe he kept his hands locked around your neck for a full five minutes (I counted), while your tunic was soaked with ? salty liquid that frequently leaks from human eyes. Ugh.

I believe a lesson in Jedi detachment is in order.

As I have now ensured my safety and good health ? which I know you were concerned about despite all those endless paragraphs about Jedi jesters, I now take my leave. Expect me not to return until Sith lords emerge, ru

Do you remember the time you got down from Captain Solo?s ship after landing on Mersa? You said I looked angry. I was. I scolded you a great deal for coming back, remember? I was worried. Now, make sure you keep this to yourself: I was glad too.

Always listen to the voice that tells you about Bad Feelings, Obi-Wan. That is the voice of the Force. All Jedi listen to it. Even your Master. Make sure you listen to him.

But don?t listen to him when he talks about depraved resorts and charmers. Very bad for your health.

You must write to me every day. It is a great joy for me to read your letters. What are the lessons you take now? And if you?re worried about what to write, here?s a topic I chose, for example: You have a friend called Garen Muln, don?t you? Why don?t you tell me about him?

You see, it?s quite easy, after all. Don't forget, will you?

    Oh my. Well, well, well.

What a perfect ending to an utterly charming series.

I have to say I got all choked up.

You have a particular flair for character and emotion that I just love. And you deliver in so many different kinds of story, including this humorous one. Lovely, lovely writing.

The end? Darn it. :_| Still, I loved it, as I have all the other posts.

It must be a slip-up on Xanatos' part to hint that there will be a next time for him to chaperone Obi-Wan. [face_whistling] Heh. He'd better get plenty of rest, wherever he's secreted himself.

And such a detailed analysis of the reunion between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan! A person might think Xanatos was very touched by the scene. ;)

A wonderful conclusion to a great story, ithesock =D=

What an utterly perfect ending. [face_love]

Xanatos' transmission to Obi-Wan had me a bit teary eyed by the end. Of course he knows Qui-Gon might read it. So sweet, but you keep the little nuances to Xan's characterization that make him, well, Xan. ;) The reunion between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan was lovely, too. I love this version of Obi-Wan's apprenticeship, him starting out younger. It really works well. Mostly because you're the one writing it, I think. :D Thank you for giving us the ending of another wonderful, touching and funny story.

I absolutely adored this and the ending was perfect. Xan being so absurd in all his rambling to Qui-Gon with his exaltedness and protestations about kids. The way he watched the reunion of Qui and Obi - and apparently watched the whole thing which shows a tender side!

And I loved, loved, loved the little message to Obi-Wan. Xan's so sneaky - trying to get info on Garen through Obi-Wan. Hilarious.

Always listen to the voice that tells you about Bad Feelings, Obi-Wan. That is the voice of the Force. All Jedi listen to it. Even your Master. Make sure you listen to him.
