Just wanted to say that I had a great time last Saturday. I think we really make an awesome discussion group together. I've already read Hard Contact and I'm looking forward to talking about it with you guys.

I've had a little time to peck around in the literature thread. The general concensus on the boards is that Dark Rendezvous is an awesome, awesome book. Some are saying close to or even better than Shatterpoint. What I find even more fascinating is that Mr. Stover himself posts in that section from time to time, which I find to be pretty cool. Quoth the Stover on Dark Rendezvous:

"Tolja it was good, didn't I?

    Tolja."

Jan Duuresma, one of the main writers for the comic books, also posts from time to time. Wicked awesome. I wonder what other authors I might find?

Like I said before, I'm unfortunatly stuck, away from chicago for the holidays, and as a result was unable to go to book club last time, or next time either. But I just wanted to say that Dark Rendevouz was awesome, I definetally think it was the best Clone wars book so far.

Anyway, have a good Hard Contact meeting. (think of me) and I'll see you all in february. (if not sooner.)

I just wanted to note that the January meeting will be on Saturday the 22nd, NOT the 29th. Remember, it's the fourth Saturday of each month... so pay no attention to Dave's schedule. ;)

Sorry, I don't read this thread very often, so please send me a PM or an email if my schedule doesn't reflect the wrong date/time/place/book. I almost sent the old date to the List Serve. Good thing I looked here.

    Bosh

So, since i am new to this group how do I go about joining in on the activities, like this book club. I live near schamburg and can make it to the meeting, but kinda have a tough time approaching people cold.

Well we meet in the back of the store, at the coffee shop. We will be discussing Hard Contact. I agree it is hard to approach a group cold, but remember, everyone here had to do it at one point. Wear something Star Wars, and we'll probably hone in on you. :) Hope to see you there!

You could just hide in the bushes outside and watch from there.

    That usually works. ;) :)

Oh, and think of lots of other books to talk about besides the one being talked about.

well, i have read just about everybook that has come out recently (except of course republic commando)

Hide in the bushes? They have bushes in Schamburg? Are they from the Ikea store?

Do a lot of you guys and gals live in the northwest burbs, or do you just kinda pick places willy nilly?

Could I ask any more questions?

Three things to remember for Book Club:

    1. We're talking about this book.

    2. Lando's not a trilogy, he's a man... baby.

    3. They have bushes at B & N.

I can always use a new book. Too bad B&N doesn't have sweet 20% off coupons like Borders. Could you contact marketing for me and get them on it?

UGH! There is no way I'm going to make it to book club. I've already been out once in this mess and I don't think I can take it again esp since it hasn't stopped snowing. Maybe March.

Well i am quite happy I went to the meeting, It was great meeting everyone and I was very much at ease.
For me it made the trip out there worth every snowdrift i had to bust through. I cant wait for the next one. And i will definetly be going to the collectors society meeting.
My only question is when can we build something, like I said i got that hure garage at my office with piles of tools. I suggest a Bosch_talk statue

Dan (me), Gina, Thom, nallan1138 (Scott), Laura . . . and I think that's it.

We had a blast, even though it was just the five of us. After, everyone but Laura hit the TRU on Golf.

Yeah, it was a pretty nifty EV meeting, despite the snow keeping people away. :)

The only objections seemed to be towards Ron Perlman as Hokan, who is apparently of smaller stature. "Compact and well-groomed" was the suggestion that Karen Traviss made... any nominees?
