    I think we're being somewhat over-critical here:)

It was perfectly safe to send her back to Naboo - as we see. They didn't run into any dangers. Because of the open landscape, Anakin would've sensed any danger a long way off. And it wasn't as if it was a mere padawan she was with. But yeah, I too would send an old scruffy looking one with her:p

They're hip to it, but that doesn't mean they'll automatically assume she's a decoy.

I assume they created some excuse that explained why "Padme" was still on Coruscant yet not in the Senate.

For that matter, why didn't they put her in the Jedi Temple? you had hundreds of Jedi there; not like the assassins would even think of trying to kill her there? You have Jedi Knights and a few Masters to protect her. Why send her back to naboo her home planet, with just one jedi, and a padawan at that? Mace could have went to protect her.

I swear, the Jedi of the prequel era do not think straight.

And if Mace went to protect her the assassins would know something was up. The use of Anakin is in part because no one would notice if he was missing.

That doesn't change the fact they sent her to a planet where they thought the miners on its moons were trying to kill her. It's poor story telling / writing.

"I assume they created some excuse that explained why "Padme" was still on Coruscant yet not in the Senate. "

Thats one of the problems with the PT MS we all have to assume so much to cover for very bad story telling.

    Re Spice miners:

Padme thought Dooku was behind it (disregarding the Jedi's claim then). Later we find out that the Jedi need to trace the bounty hunter. Infact the Jedi now decided to send Padme to Naboo because she knows the place very well (or you could say the Jedi were wrong and realized this). Padme "Anakin this is my home, I know it very well that is why we're here...

Still not making a whole lot of sense in my head. If I was her i'd stay put. I know my home very well however if some nut bag was after me i'd rather be with a load of cops and not a teenager in my own back yard waiting for something to happen.

yeah it is sort off strange to try and hide on your homeplanet in a house that belongs to your family.

An assasin would not have to think very hard to find her.

The house is out in the open so a killer with a rifle and a long lens would have plenty of places to hide.
Also they did not seem to take any precautions what so ever while they were there, they just seemed to have good time, going on pick-nicks and what not.

The assasins already know that the jedi are involved and the jedi are aware of that. Since they know that whoever killed Zam also saw her being in the hands of two jedi.

The problem with this is typical of many plot points in AotC, they just seem to drop out of the story.
While she is on Coruscant Jango and Zam try very hard to kill her and Jango even says that his employer is getting impatient. But once she leaves then Jango suddenly looses all interest in her and goes back to Kamino to relax. In fact there are never any further attempts on her life.
Which is passing strange as Dooku very much needs her dead as that is what he promised the TF and if he does not deliver then the separatists could fall apart.

    Regards
    Nordom

I'm still saying that she should have been placed in the Jedi Temple. You have padawan, Several Knights, and a bunch of Masters guarding her. An assassin would never try to break into the temple to get her then. but no, the Jedi decide to send her back to Naboo, her home planet. Of course the assassin would never EVER THINK of looking for her there. I guess the assassin has caught the Idiot bug.

And for that matter, why send a padawan? Sure Anakin is the chosen one, and his force potential is one of the highest in the history of the jedi, he's only had about 10 years worth of Jedi training. Why not send a knight, or a master, which have trained basically their whole lives.

It is strange that she goes into hiding on her home planet, and at one of her known spots to frequent no less.

And why would she put Binks in charge while she was gone? Wouldn't that be a giveaway that she was in hiding and NOT there?

A small point alluded to in the novel but not explored either there or in the film is Dorme remaining behind disguised as the senator to fool the assassins. I think the novel mentions it briefly.

Yes that was the whole point. They were to think that she was still at the Senate building under heavy protection. That is why she dressed as a peasant. But they may have even sent several of her handmaidens about posing as her...her homeplanet was a good place to go. It is so obvious and stupid a choice, the killers would not believe she would return there.

Dorme wouldnt have fooled any assasin that knew Padme used decoys, which probably everybody in the GFFA did after TPM. Especially with Binks in her place in the Senate.

I agree that the troubling part is why Jango stopped trying to kill Padme after Zam failed ?

    This thread is awesome.
The only place in the Galaxy for Padme to be completely safe during AOTC's was the Jedi Temple. Every line about her safety on Naboo was really dumb, just like the PT Jedi.

Well, she could have disguised herself as a gungan and hidden in Jar-Jars apartment. [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

No! then they would of killed Jar Jar...wait..is that a bad thing? [face_laugh]

On the balcony where they are standing in AOTC, there was a kidnapping of the previous ownwer beore by unknown assains, she shouldn't of been safe in her own home.:D

The Jedi likely realized their original suspicion might not be accurate. It would also be in line with the Jedi's later decision to hide Luke on Anakin's homeworld and hide Leia in plain sight.

    Oh, I agree.

True, but there's a difference between knowing the Jedi are performing bodyguard duty and thinking the Jedi would arrange for her to leave the planet as a refugee.

But it really begs the question of how the Jedi are not thinking straight.

First off, Anakin. He's one of the only Jedi in the post-Ruusan Order who has had an actual family. He had a caring mother, he had several friends, he even had a mean spirited boss who worked him. Now, taking that into consideration, and the fact that he is supposed to be the so called chosen one, you think that the council would work more closely with him the moment he been accepted as a Jedi. But no, they pair him off with a another padawan who barely just been promoted, due in large part to a friend's dying wish. It's really no fault of ObiWan's, or Qui-Gon's. And then they must have saw the way palpatine was usually seen with the boy whenever the 2 had a chance. not that anakin shouldn't have friends outside the order, but shouldn't they have looked at it more closely.

Secondly, the assassination. She has just survived an assassination attempt. The Jedi are now involved. Now, if she has just survived 2 attempts, logic dictates that she would be moved to a secure location, like a bunker. They suggest that Padme go back to her home planet of naboo, where she would be "safe there." Now think about it for a minute. Why would a person, who has survived trying to be killed 2 times, go back to their home planet, where her family and friends live? that's the first place the assassin would go. If you ask me, the Jedi should have offered to place her in the temple. You have padawans, several knights, and many masters as a arm of defense. No way would an assassin, unless they were a rogue jedi, be able to get inside to kill her.

When a person is taken into protective custody you don't take them to their own home and "hide".

With what they knew at the time? No. There's no harm in a young Jedi being friends with a kindly old Senator who was just made Chancellor. It's certainly no more alarming than Obi-Wan's friendship with Dex.

The persistent critics of the Jedi's logic on this score seem to be missing one fatal flaw in their line of reasoning: The assassins did not locate the Senator on her homeworld. The ruse worked, at least prior to her arrival on Geonosis. The entire point of this thread is rendered moot when one considers that Padme was never in any danger from her pursuers while she was in safe, comfortable seclusion on her homeworld, which did in fact turn out to be the last place her enemies would seek her out.

Not really. They stopped looking for her. Zam was dead and Jango went home to see Fett Jnr.

If he wanted to track her he could have done so, but as i said for some reason he just went home.
