I remember hearing or reading somewhere that in ANH, Carrie Fisher wasn't wearing any underwear (or maybe it was just no bra), and in the action scenes they just taped her breasts down.

Hmmmm....Luke from ANH was probably still in underoos - but by ROJ I'm sure he was firmly immersed (uh, no pun intended) in non-decorative white briefs. Standard Alliance issue.
Han is a boxer guy - no doubt. Likes the feeling of freedom it gives.
Palpatine was probably nude under those robes of his. (dirty old man)
I agree with Mara and the thong - I can see that - but not Leia - definately not. Being the educated gal she is I'm sure she is smart enough to know the health benfits of a breathable cotton croth.

 

Actually, in RotJ, they had the crew check Fisher's breasts after every scene. She once joked that they picked straws to see who got to look. Also, in the trash compactor scene in ANH she isn't wearing anything underneath the white robe.... except for a water suit, and she once joked about saying Lucas was a perv for trying that scene to get to see... [smart lucas...].

Though, I picture Mara with hott nice LEATHER thongs and Leia a more, cotton white person. Now, Jaina on the other hand... I'd say she'd be a naturist if you will and got nuttin under there. And Queen Amidala, well, she's portrayed by Natalie Portman, and we all know what happened to her on the beach.

Anyway, since we ARE supposed to be speculating EU characters, I'll give you all my thoughts:
Mara - either thong or lacy bikini style, depends on her mood.
Daala - sorry, no thong here. Bikini style for this girl.
Isard - one word: leather
Talon Karrde - Boxer/brief type guy
Niles Ferrier - hmm tough call. I'd say briefs but don't expect them to be changed everyday.
Winter - cotton bikini
Borsk Fey'lya - ok I don't care what type they are but they're always bunched up his @$$.

These are just a few... I'll think of more for later.

 

Just a quick not about Jaina: she does wear underwear. It was mentioned in one of the YJK novels, when she went swimming in it.
