The first in a new series set in the classic trilogy era is out today in hardcover (9/24):
"Razor's Edge" focuses on Leia as she sets out to deal with some pirates... who are from recently-destroyed Alderaan.

Most of the early reviews give it a decent thumbs-up but not necessarily top marks. This kicks off the new "Empire and Rebellion" series, which will have three loosely-connected books, each by a different author new to SW, and focusing on a key hero of the Star Wars saga: Leia, then Han in "Honor Among Thieves", then Luke. So you don't need to know a lot of EU to get what's going on, just as with John Jackson Miller's "Kenobi."
