EU Lightsaber Colors- A Question And Answeer Session

Ah, ok, I got it now. I always assumed he ether used it in the green one, or used it as replacements for the blue and/or green ones.

Not as far as I know. The TYPE of gem has something-or-other to do with the color of the blade, though.

Well, I think that's kind of one and the same. If you use an emerald, you'll get a green blade because an emerald is green. Same with sapphire and such. What I want to know is this: I thought the whole principle behind having crystals in the sabers was because they reflected and focused the energy used to create the saber blade. In YJK: Lightsabers, Luke tells the four kids that Cilghal used a pearl in her saber. How is that possible?

It's a fallacy that the gem acts like it does with light. It does focus the energy, but not in the same way as a lens does. So while a gem does impart some of the colour, it's not the colour of the gem that dictates it. In the saber that Corran built in I, Jedi, the first gem in his saber was an emerald, but the blade was silver, and the second gem that he used was a diamond, even if it was a fake, and it imparted a purple colour to the longer blade.

 

In the recent Star Wars:Tales issue it shows that Yoda has to two LightSabers one is Yellow bladed and the other is Purple, i wonder how many sabers yoda had anyways?

Hey, what about the sabre Luke uses in post-ESB Marvel ? Timetales uses the ret-con that he took that one from Baron Tagge earlier in the Marvel series. Does anyone know what colour it is?

Gantoris had a white-violet blade in I, Jedi.

 

What about Tenel Ka? For some reason I thought purple but I'll Have to dig out YJK: Lightsabers to check.

That was my typo, I meant green, then orange/yellow.

From I, Jedi, Kam's blade is green.

Irek Ismaren, Roganda's son, has a lightsaber with a flame-colored blade.

Zekk's first lightsaber was scarlet. It was the one Brakiss gave him. The next one, the one he built, was flame-colored.

Raynar's blade was pewter-colored, whatever that is.

Dolph/Kueller's blade was blue.

Hethrir's blade was silver-gray.

 

Corran never had a green blade. His first blade was Nejja Halcyon's old silver one, and his second, the one he built himself, is also silver, but when he doubles the length, it changes to purple, so you have to find a way to put that in.

 

I'd really like to see the complete list of TOJ-NJO sabers. I'm actually more curious to see a complete list of Jedi, I don't know if i've ever seen them all listed together. Let's go for it!

 

Kyle's blade isn't necessarily blue in the next Jedi Knight game, the developers laughed over everyone noticing it, they were just showing a demo of the game engine. In one showing they changed the colour to red.

 

Rayner's blade is pewter. It's a dull silver color.

Luke's and Qui-gon's blades are yellow green.
Mara's original is violet.
Anakin's is Blue.
Jacen's is jade green.
Jaina's Amethyst.
Gantoris had a violet blade with a small bits of red electrity.
Cighal's is a pearlish white. Close to silver.
Exar Kun had a blue blade(s)
Kriana Ti used Gantoris' saber before changing to her own.
Leia had a yellow green, blue and red blade.
Corran's blade colors changes slightly when he extends the blade.
Callista had a yellow topaz blade
Anja Gallandro had a acid yellow blade.

 

i recall seeing that someone had a sun-yellow blade once and i thought that was a cool color... possibly Callista? something makes me that that it was her.

 

Speaking on a prequel era the lists have all had Mace Windu's lightsaber as blue. One of this summer's Star Wars Insiders showed Mace Windu on the cover with a purple lightsaber. Supposedly Lucas asked him what color he wanted and Sam Jackson said purple. Lucas also said that the Jedi will have only blue and green sabers which conflicts with Plo Koon's yellow and Ki-Adi-Mundi's purple which we have seen in action figures and the PSX game Jedi Power Battles. But of course both sources for PK and KAM's lightsabers also had Mace's as blue so who knows what Lucas has in mind

speaking of lucas, he says alot of things, that he changes or aren't always correct.

That's not true I'm afraid. The reason Corran's blade was silver was becaue he used a Durindfire, apparently a silver gem, at the core of his lightsaber. He wanted to achieve the same color as his grandfather's, so he used the same gem. The only reasoning that I can think of that his longer blade is purple is because it filter's through the diamond, which translates into a purple blade somehow....
