That seems to have happened when Palpatine/Sidious got his hands on it, some time after Order 66. The section seems to relate to the Prophecy of the Chosen One; in this day and age, probably not important, as it should only be about Anakin Skywalker (or just maybe, his son, Luke). Annoying, but that's Sith for you!

EDIT: How well does it handle total decapitation, Bard'ika? That seems to sort out others of its kind!

It has the ability to regrow parts that have been lopped off. Cut off its head and the headless body grows a new head while the bodyless head grows a new body. Then you have doubled the problem. A while back someone disintegrated the thing which reduced it to its constituant atoms. That seemed to work for awhile until each atom grew into a new beast. There are countless numbers of them now, all locked away in the basement of the BMC.

Stay away from the basement!

 

Don't worry, as the current Senator I put up a heavy duty shield around the basement. More to keep people from going in though
