Grand Master, the Jedi Code as given by the Guardians of Light requires one to choose peace over emotion, knowledge over ignorance, serenity over passion, and the Force over death in an absolute sense. At first glance, it differs from the original Jedi Code seemingly only in its wording. The Guardians' Code begins with "There is no emotion, there is peace." versus the original "Emotion, yet peace."

The original could have been worded that way in order to provide a more poetic Code, rather than a literal and practical guide, but I believe that the omission of the word "no" in front of the undesired traits such as emotion was actually on purpose, in order to indicate that rather than an absolute lack of one trait, there must be a balance between the two. The comma forces you to pause and consider the two traits separately, therefore also weighing them against each other as you speak or read the words.

The modern version, on the other hand, is more practical as a foundation for educating future Jedi and for the foundation around which a Jedi Order can be based because its meaning is clear and there is little to no room for interpretation. I rejects emotion in favour of peace, ignorance in favour of knowledge, passion in favour of serenity, etc. It is practical, though maybe not fully realistic. I say this because it reminds me of when Jacen Solo is questioned and tested by Vergere, who is easily able to break apart his black and white understanding of right and wrong, and manipulate it to her liking. Life (and therefore the Force) does not concern itself with black and white ideals. There needs to be a preference, a guide, but also an understanding of the two opposites in context; or else one can easily be swayed into darkness.

Well done General Valerian . I enjoyed the fact that you chose Mace Windu. Very interesting character. :) Your next task is to create a character for the role playing aspect. Please be as complete as you can. If you have any questions feel free to ask myself and/or CPL. If you can't fill in all of it that's fine.

JacensGirl Good job. In-depth, just how I like it. ;) Your next task is to share why you want to be a jedi. Please be as detailed/complete as you can.

Skywalker_T-65 please send me an updated Roster so that I can have it put into the first post of this thread.

Yeah, he just forgot his step from the reflected addiction, speaking of which in the new RP I am playing the character that had his life changed by Obi-won.

So, you wanna buy some death sticks?
I-I don't want to sell you any death sticks.
I want to go home and rethink my life. :D

My character? No, not a Jedi, but it does raise the question.

Is alter-mind a good Jedi skill to use? What of those that are affected?

It was a suggestion he made at the time, I suspect it wasn't a permanent mind altering thing.........Obi Wan is no Kyp Durron ;)

Its possible, but it was a very brief encounter, I suspect a permanent altering of a mind would take a little longer.

That rethinking forever is a direction I took, as well as possible recurring subconscious command to rethink his life.

That's an interesting exploration. My first thought is that mind-altering in that manner is akin to playing God. It would affect a person forever, and therefore implies taking a fairly large amount of control over the person. Dark side, no?

But I guess the well-intentioned "rethink your life" could have various results, especially over time. Wow. Good call.

It's a point that I plan on introducing him under, and that it has happened three times in his life since his encounter with Obi-won by Ep VII :D The post should be interesting.
