MOD EUC/SWC Olympic Games: The Games are about to Begin!!!

Welcome to the first annual Star Wars Olympic games. Here you will pit your knowledge, your creativity, your artistry against your fellow members in winner take all contests designed to showcase your abilities and bring back honor and glory for your communities. These events are to include:

1. A FanFiction contest. There will be no "assigned theme" and no word limit, but entrants are encouraged to note that longer doesn't necessarily mean better. Each entrant may submit only one story.
2. A Fan essay contest, the topic of which will be given to you before the actual contest begins. These essays will be limited to no more than five (5) paragraphs and as with the Fan Fiction contest each entrant may submit only one essay.
3. A FanArt contest. No theme (aside from it needing to be Star Wars related), but please abide by the forum's TOS and keep it family friendly. Once again each entrant can submit only one piece of artwork.
4. A Dueling contest. These will be short duels designed to showcase your skills in the battle arena. There will be no more than five (5) posts per contestant before the duel is ended by the beskar wearing referee. So make your posts count. Judge's will determine who wins and moves on to the next round. The tournament format will be determined once we see how many participants we have.
5. Trivia contest: Done on an individual level, please don't use any other reference material.

The Expanded Universe Community will serve as host to these first games, so all events will take place in threads created there (we intend to use the EUC's "event" prefix for these games).

Now, you all will have noticed that these are all individual as opposed to team events, but there will still be an element of teamwork involved here. All entrants must sign up for either the EUC or SWC (the two communities participating in this year's games). No one can represent both and the use of sock accounts in these contests is strictly forbidden. Likewise, no user may sign up for more than two events (rule rescinded). Mod staff of the SWC and EUC will keep a running tally of the medal winners and one forum will win bragging rights as the overall medal winners. Medals? you ask. Well it's the Olympics, so of course there are medals. Each category will see a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winner.

• Gold medal winners will see themselves draped in custom colors and title for a week.
• Silver medalists get red VIPship colors and title for five days.
• Bronze medalists receive the red VIPship colors and title for three days.

So ask yourself, do you have what it takes to be a Star Wars Olympian, do you have what it takes to be a champion?

To join, copy the roster and add your name in a new post for any events (no more than two) you want to participate in if you wish to represent the Star Wars Community. Sign ups will be open for a period of two weeks.

Appreciate the invite, my Lady (nice new crown, BTW). However I still heavily depend on Wookieepedia. Just thought I'd go for a good giggle up there.

 

When does this thing start?

 

Initially the opening ceremony was to be tomorrow, but we're going to give it another week for sign ups. Especially considering the SWC team is so thin right now.

As indicated above:

Opening ceremonies for these Olympic Games were to have been today, but we are going to extend sign ups for another week to try to boost the number of our participants. Right now we have only one dueler signed up, and one entrant for the fan essay contest. Both for the EUC team. In addition there are just two people signed up for the Trivia event, again both from the EUC. To help boost some of the numbers in the events that are lagging behind we're going to rescind the restriction on signing up for just two events. If you want to participate in the games, you may now sign up for as many events as you desire. Again just copy the last roster and add your names to the additional events that you would like to participate in, or if you are new participant add you names to all the events in which you would like to take part. The Games will start next week!
