I quite like that voting system, it was an amazing comeback for Ukraine having been miles behind.

Thankfully. I know the show is a joke but having Australia host it would be a bit too far.
If not simply for the logistical problem of having a live show hosted in a country which is many hours ahead of Europe.
I certainly wouldn't stay up for that.

They flat out said it wouldn't be in Australia, so you're good. :p

Shoutout to the American hosts on the Logo broadcast. They were hilarious.

On the US broadcast they said that Australia would pick another country to host if they won.

I agree the US hosts were hilarious! My favorite thing they said:

"It's like a rave at the UN."

It's Carson Kressley from Queer Eye and Michelle Collins, an American comedienne / talk show hostess on Logo.

I've loved Carson forever, so I agree. He's no Johnny Weir, but he'll do!

I can say that I voted for Poland and Ukraine, and Italy but in all honesty she sang a lot better when I hear her in the jury rehearsal for semi-final 2 than at the final.

That was shocking. Like really? Ukraine? Deja Vu? Hungary last year?

(There's a follow up post to this coming soon)

I don't know how others feel about the US getting into the watching of Eurovision in general, but I found an interesting article on The Guardian about it: Why the US embrace of Eurovision is good news for planet Earth

Unfortunately, I can't find a clip of it. :( I found where they posted the broadcast online but I doubt you'll be able to see it as it's on the network's website. (Also, I can't even get it to load right now so I can't even tell you where it was, but I'm pretty sure it was in the first 10 minutes or so if you can see it.)

"As per tradition, here's the yearly Eurovision comic.

This Eurovision had a lot of firsts: Australia became an official participant despite preforming last year, the show was shown on American TV, an American preformed, and not a single Nordic country made it to the finals except Sweden because they were hosting the show.

I actually hope America joins Eurovision some day because they'd be the most amazing drama queens every time they lost, and nothing says Eurovision like drama."

Interestingly, they were not allowed to show us the JT performance in the US. They had to cut away and only describe it.

Presumably because of some legal / marketing / contractual reason.

Yes look, I'm not quite sure why we're there. We have a valid reason to be I suppose insofar as the whole top left of the flag/European outpost, but letting the Americans in would be daft. They speak a language that is shared by a single European nation!

One state that didn't take part in the Eurovision was the so called ISIS, well thanks to Israeli TV we can show you what their entry would have been

because Jamala is Ukrainian I was wondering if she is a mail order bride? I mean seriously, she looks very similar to this girl from a Ukrainian mail order bride page: http://www.eurodamen.com/frauen/5925/
