Looks like Portugal are running away with this. That song is dreadful.

Australia had a strong lead after the jury voting last year though. Italy gets a lot less points than I had thought.

It was different enough, and remember this is from the juries, we still have the televotes left.

After 53 years, having never finished better than 5th, Portugal wins!

I have rooted for Portugal for the last few years, thinking they deserved to finally win, and I was in the "anyone but Bulgaria"-camp, so I'm satisfied.

    Congratulations Portugal

Wow, I liked the Croatian guy the best, with Sweden and Moldova as 2nd and 3rd... Portugal wasn't that interesting to me.

    And all the results

    1. Portugal (the favorite held)
    2. Bulgaria (the second favorite)
    3. Moldova (definitely the big surprise, Epic Sax Guy is Epic)
    4. Belgium (good song, and the live performance was a lot better in the final)
    5. Sweden (quite expected and the most important thing is that we were far ahead of the other Nordic countries)
    6. Italy (Disappointment of the year)
    7. Romania (there wouldn't be ESC without the crazy)
    8. Hungary (good song, so deserves its Place in the top 10)
    9. Australia (don't understand how it could get into the top 10)
    10. Norway (Another surprise)
    11. Netherlands (too boring to finish 11)
    12. France
    13. Croatia (better than Netherlands, France and Australia)
    14. Azerbaijan (must be a Disappointment, expected it to be in the top 10)
    15. UK (better than the last few years)
    16. Austria
    17. Belarus (cute, but not enough to have people vote for it)
    18. Armenia (weak live performance doomed it)
    19. Greece (thank you Cyprus for the 12 Points or we would have ended up where we belonged)
    20. Denmark
    21. Cyprus
    22. Poland
    23. Israel (I can't hit any notes, but I still didn't end up last)
    24. Ukraine
    25. Germany (thank you televoters that let us avoid nul points)
    26. Spain (thank you televoters that let us avoid nul points)

I liked Portugal, it wasn't my favorite but it was sweet. I'm happy for them!

But when I wrote down the top 3 that I thought would happen, I did get Bulgaria coming in second correct. I'm usually really, really off with who actually wins. Okay, so I still was really wrong as I thought it was going to be 1)Netherlands 2)Bulgaria 3) Croatia.

My favorites remained Croatia, Moldova, Italy, and Netherlands (if only because they had great harmonies).

I don't understand why people didn't vote for Italy, I can understand the weak score from the juries, but I thought it would be a hit with the audience.

lol the Netherlands. We haven't won in 42 years. There were less than half as many contestants then. We'll never win.

Well not with that attitude!!! :p

And yes, "Running man sax" is possibly the greatest thing I saw this year...

I'm guessing his performance wasn't as good as usual and the early position must have hurt them.
Actually they got some jury votes from Ireland (probably part of the bailout deal)

Eh Portugal has just won for the first time after 40 years of participating with only having one neighbour and having sung the song in their native language. If Portugal can do it so can pretty much any other country.

I thought both Germany and Spain were on nul before the televote, but yes it's always good to try and keep Germany happy.

It was the two key changes that really sold the Netherland for me, between that and the 3 part harmony, I thought it would play better. But I also have very little understanding of the politics, so I really never can factor that in.

I thought Israel should have come in last, it was by far my lowest score.

Running man sax will certainly be on my Eurovision greatest hits list.

Yes, fortunately Israel went first this year -- and was terrible -- to allow everyone to get into the "at least we're not as bad as Israel" camp...

    I think Israel shouldn´t participate.

    Or!

The Palestinian territories should also participate.

Like Canada they're not even a real country anyway... :p

But there are a lot of little oddities like that... technically a couple of the former Soviet countries are fully in Asia, no?

And Morocco has participated once, but Liechtenstein can't. Basically un order to take part you need to have a national broadcaster that is a paying member of the EBU, and EBU isn't strictly about the geography of Europe.

Then there is Australia but that's simply an exception.

Biggest drips ever win. History repeating itself, and all that. Moldova should have left everyone choking in their dust.

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus France, Greece, Italy, Moldova and Montenegro are those I will keep returning to.

Also, dadgum Ruslana - that interval act was beyond awesome.
