JCC Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Moldova act is really fun, they're a solid Eurovision country despite never winning they send in fun memorable acts.
Sweden's music video looks stunning and it looks like they're trying to appeal to the 80s nostalgia crowd. Don't think they will do well though.

Also UK won't sing again at the end after all.

 

What was the protest / stage jumper with UK about, do we know?

 

Say this for the Hungarian entry — no one watching fell asleep.

He was half the duo that came in second behind Conchita.

 

Going into Eurovision scoring, I have it as follows:

T. 1) Moldova [27]
T. 1) Germany [27]
T. 3) Denmark [26]
T. 3) Israel [26]

And then in a tie for fifth with 25: UK, Czech, Netherlands, and Ireland.

 

I'll be happy if Estonia, Moldava, Israel and Cyprus end up in the top 10.

 

The light show projected onto Estonia's dress was inspired.

Yeah, Israel has zero shot due to BDS being pretty popular in Europe...

 

I don't think BDS extends to Eurovision votes. I mean, if I was boycotting a country for political reasons, I wouldn't have factored that into my music competition votes.

 

My personal top is:
Germany, Moldova, and Ireland all tied for the top (26 points out of 30)
then:
UK (25)
Estonia, Serbia, Sweden, and Netherlands (24)

Who I think will win (with very little knowledge of European politics): Moldova or of Estonia


The performance I'd watch the most was Ireland with the pa de deux (Pa de dudes) and Moldova in a very close second.
The songs I'd most likley to download were: UK, Germany, and The Netherlands

 

Voting is a lot more exciting compared to last year.

 

Austria doing quite well so far.

Edit: the Austrian jury trying for reparations, of a sort.

 

Cyprus seems like the jury favourite. Remains to be seen how the viewers will vote, but I think it will take it. Israel is popular with the juries too.

 

Cyprus didn't impress -- very very weak Beyonce clone...

 

The Austrian song gets played quite a lot on the radio here, and it blends in quite well with regular pop, which is rare. Not sure if that‘s a good thing for the ESC.

 

And I am already wrong. Israel taking a clear lead ahead of Cyprus.
