Even though it didnt look like it, Did Qui Gon let Maul kill him?

Kind of the way Kenobi later let Vader take him out while he knew Luke would see? Obi saw the whole thing happen and went on to become very wise and strong in the force. Did QG let this happen knowing later he would become one with the force and help guide the ultimate outcome in general?

That could explain his meditating behind the laser door. Perhaps he knew he would perish and began preparing his spirit for the next level, and began merging his soul with the living force.

No, he was a Jedi, they don't let stuff happen they just do.

 

Well, Qui Gon wasn't a 'By-The-Book' Jedi like Obi Wan. He never seemed to follow the rules so saying it isn't Jedi like might not be a good arguement.
