It was fun. The kids really seemed to like the games. I asked one girl what she liked best at the end of the day and pointed at the games--this was even after the pinata! I thought the pinata was fantastic! I bet the round shape was the reason it held up so well--no legs or appendages to break off. But I think it was better that it did take so long to break since all the kids got a turn whacking at it.
I had fun at the haunted house too-Anthony did a fantastic job with that!!!!
Actually everyone did a fantastic job. Especially all those who worked on the planning stages and seeing that everything got done. I say BRAVO to you all!!

Pictures of the event Have been uploaded

The lighting is pretty bad in there, so some of the pics are kinda dark, but I hope you like them. Thanks to everyone who posed for the pics. The kids loved the costumes. [face_love]

    M o v i n g v e r y s l o w l y t h i s m o r n i n g :p

Fun was had by all, and one again the RMFF managed to shine brightly in the Universe... Be are that bright spot in the universe that Luke talking about, I am certain of it ;)

The planning may have been arduous, the Death Star may have been time consuming, the begging may have been rough, and spending the day on the concrete may have revealed our ages, but the best mark of our accomplishment comes from the mouths of the children. When I saw my nieces later that night I was greeted with, "Can we go back again next week?!" [face_love] [face_blush]

Thanks to everyone for pulling of yet another quality event. It was nice to meet a few of you that I only knew on the board here (I guess next time I'll wear my nametag with my username). ;)

All in all, SG-14 had a great time and a special thanks for not making fun of the fatty guy (me) in the man-skirt (Stargate Anubis).

The costume needs a lot of work, but I'm glad you all liked it.

Kudos again for showing the RMFF is the best!

The Rocky Mountain FanForce, joined by the Mountain Garrison of the 501st Legion, and Mountain Base of the Rebel Legion helped the Wings Over the Rockies Museum bring fun and safety to the children of Denver for Halloween this year. With indoor Trick-Or-Treating, lightsaber demonstrations, a haunted house and a special science exhibit featuring the Mad Scientist the children had a wonderful afternoon. However, the highlight of the day came when the Super Death Star Pinata was unveiled, and each of the kids got to take a whack at it with a lightsaber. When all was said and done, the children were happy, the parents were entertained and we all had fun while helping to keep a Denver landmark alive and well.

    Detail of Pictures:

    Hi All,

I am kind of new here - it was cool to meet new faces at WOTR. The WOTR staff was very nice too. You guys did a fantastic job with the entire event - congrats! Sorry I couldnt stay longer with R2. All the excitement overran his circuits. :)

R2 is back in action now. I was glad to see the kids had fun with him. Made the trip worth it. I hope to make it out to other events if you need a droid handler.

    Jim

Kudos to the planning staff and all the groups involved. We all managed to make that big empty place seem full. Kudos to Jedi_Pilot for spending 5 hours in that batman costume. It does not look comfortable. Yeah for Obi_Wannabe, he finally wore a costume (South Park's Towely) that I never recognized it as being him. I never thought I would see the day. Melodyann was floating along as the ghost of SG team members past, pale as the moon, but with rosier cheeks (it's all about the cheeks, dude). Fenig looked lovely, running around as a Vorlon. She managed to scare the bejezzers out of me in the first 30 seconds of arriving at the table (something about High School, I don't know). And true to form, she managed to attract yet another hoplessly devoted fanboy.

I had a lot fun yelling myself hoarse as the lunatic redneck in the haunted house, and scared the (r@p out of the Castlewall table folks. I would love to do all this again next year.

First off, let me say that the Event was a HUGE success. Nancy was absolutely overflowing with praise for both the event itself, as well as the RMFF. So, kudos to all involved in nurturing, fostering, and cultivating this newfound relationship with Wings Over the Rockies. We truly are a 'Force to be Reckoned With'.

Additionally, the adults loved us, and most importantly, the kids loved us, which at the end of the day, is what it's really all about.

Again, many thanx to all who contributed their time, energy, and valuable resources to making this such a worthwhile event.

I'll try & get my pics uploaded this week as well, although given the lighting in some spots of the hangar, not sure how well some of 'em turned out.

Continuing the "thanks" thread... thank you to everyone who signed up to work the event, and especially to those who were willing to switch around their assignments or contribute extra time when things got frazzling once or twice.

Hyperdyne - I only saw the R2 from a distance, but he looked cool, and I could see that kids loved him! Thanks for bringing him.

Fenig - you were a Vorlon?? Wow, that's some disguise. You really had me convinced that you were Princess Leia! ;)

Standing still, she looks like a princess. But she keep running around with those long sleeves fluttering beside her, and she looked like Kosh.

    Hey All

Thanx for inviting us to the melee. We had a lot of fun. My props to the people who busted their humps to make this work. I hope we lived up to your expectations, and we will have more carnage and chaos next time. My guys are now ready to hit the sticks and props for a better show. I think they enjoyed playing with the kids more than anything. Again thanx for letting us show how strong the Force is becoming in Pueblo. And how strong it is in Colorado.
    Later Days...

Great job, Chico! You guys were awesome!

BTW, did anyone else manage to post pics? Kinda hoping someone got my Anubis before the costume malfunctioned (not what you think). ;)

I definately need to make it more stable and trooping friendly.

    From Lance, over @ 501st:

On Sunday October 31, 2004, members of the three squads in the Mountain Garrison converged on the Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum, where we took part in their first ever, and sure to be annual Halloween event.

The previous night, Jay Leno hosted a cancer fundraiser in the hangar. The tent covered red carpet leading up to the front entrance and a red, white and blue balloon arch right inside the hangar were still there when we set up Sunday morning. Both of these things added to the event.

I got as big a kick out of seeing the little kids dressed in their various costumes as they did in ours. Some of them were as cute as could be, namely the little pirate girl, the little boy dressed as Peter Pan and his baby sister dressed as Tinker Bell, at least I think she was Tinker Bell. No matter what her costume was, she was cute.

The trick-or-treat trivia stations, set up around the hangar, were a hit. It was cool to witness parents helping their kids figure out the answers to the various questions re: the airplanes.

The Haunted House, Becca's Mad Scientist Lab and the lightsabre demonstartions put on by the Steel City Jedi were fantastic compliments to the day's activities. Thank you all for your hard work. It was very well received. From what Chad B. reported, his Imperial Coloring Station was popular not only with children but with adults as well.

Besides members of the 501st MG, members from the RMFF, SG 14, the Steel City Jedi and others helped to make this a VERY FUN event for all who attended. From everything I've heard, from various museum employees, the visitors had nothing but positive things to say. One gentleman told the lady at the front desk that it was the first time he'd seen his son smile in a week. I got chills when I heard that. As I was getting out of my armour at my car, a grandpa and his two grandkids walked by and told me it was the nicest event of it's kind they'd been to. There's already talk of next year's event.

I want to thank the following members of the MG:

    Chad B.
    Kim B.
    Daniel B.
    Matt B.
    Cal P.
    Kathy P.
    Becca H.
    Stacy
    Jim L.
    Jim S.
    Azman S.
    Sara S.
    Kevin C.
    Lance F.

Jim S., thank you so much for bringing R2-D2. He was a crowd pleaser to say the least. Seeing Daniel and Sara, dressed as Jawas standing next to him was AWESOME!

Kim and the Death Star Pinata Construction Crew, what can I say? You guys did one hell of a job. The fact that it made it through ALL the kids taking a few swings at it, before Lord Darth Maul showed his lightsabre prowess and busted the space station open, is a tribute to your skills. One has to wonder if you guys had built the first Death Star, would Luke have been able to destroy it? I th8ink not.

Besides fighting Anakin Skywalker, Lord Maul, went up against the little boy dressed as Peter Pan that I mentioned before. If I hadn't of locked my keys in my car, I would have run out to get my camera and taken a picture.

John, sorry you weren't able to make it. I hope you're feeling better by now. We'll see you at the Command Staff meeting.

At the end of the day I was tired, as I'm sure all of us were, but at the same time I was energized by the positive response we received from the public. There's always some level of apprehension when an event is put on for the first time. Thanks to the hard work, determination and creativity of ALL involved, this event was a huge success.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH. "MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU".
