I dunno, I think they have something called a 'budget' for promoting CV and were not going to commission special artwork just to send out a Holiday notice to people. I'm not surprised they'd use existing artwork - nothing wrong with that at all.

I had a feeling someone would mention Victoria. *sigh* I don't need any help file photos, I've seen her costume before (I know her dude!) Keep in mind that even though Victoria's costume is RL approved, her jumpsuit is much more fitted than it was in the films since I guess she was going for an EU look. (and that's the same jumpsuit Shea is borrowing). I chose to fit my jumpsuit more loosely to be more in line with what I saw in the films... so it is this baggy rendition that I'm referring to as being not the most flattering thing for women to choose from in the Star Wars universe. But even if I could have made my jumpsuit tighter and kept it comfortable (trust me, I played around with the idea of tighter, or looser like the movie...), it's just not 'pretty' like a dress is the main point.

I wasn't trying to say that there are not any women who look good in the costume. (Especially if the girl is pretty to begin with). I can just think of less frumpy costumes than a big orange jumpsuit that reminds many people of a prison uniform [face_laugh] It is what it is! I've heard all the jokes...

I still say it's the helment... Anyway, I've seen a pic of you in X-wing gear Kat. You fly fast and shoot straight! No doubt. =D And yes, I know, you know Vicks, and yes I know Shea borrowed Vick's X-wing gear... and futhermore yes I know it was tapered and modded. Regardless, the other examples I put on there were not fitted. My friend Julia for example. It's not about the hidiousness of the orange but the way you carry yourself in the gear I'd think but of course compare to a dress it's not gonna look "pretty". Regardless, I'm over this conversation I have my own X-wing concerns to deal with at the moment. :p

I want the helmet with the ears... Hmmm... [face_thinking] lol that would be a fun mod... will have to consider it... Oh and thanks to Blu Ray I have a "Jedi Mickey" helmet. hahaha... the irony... Thanks bro!

Oh and yeah Don Post melt easily which for me is good cos I used my space heater to reform a section on mind. Now it's straightened out on it's side. :D

Going with what Kathy mentioned, I agree the way the flightsuit looks on the female figure is maybe why they didn't really show female pilot, except a quick shot over Lando's shoulder in the Rebel briefing room in ROTJ before Mon Mothma comes in, and at the Ewok celebration after they use the Empire helmets as drums. She's on the left side of the screen dancing, but they don't show her head! In that shot, her flightsuit does look baggy. But she did have a deleted shot in the cockpit. Tina S. from SVRF based her costume off of hers:

    Anyway, back to CV:

Here's a map someone's constantly updating with all the hotels where Fan Force members are staying, along with nearby important places, like a post office, groceries, etc.

It looks like 501st and Rebel Legion members get their own rates/rooms blocked off.

Well, as a fan, yes, that would be ideal. But if I were planning it, I think it would be a nightmare really. SWW is already crowded as it is, and adding 35,000 more people would just make it worse. And to have it during CV would mean cutting time and days for celebrities to do panels and signings (which happen outside at SWW), and the exhibitors would lose at least a day's worth of possible income. Imagine standing outside in line for rides, shows, AND autographs?! We've had to go the Disney Studios twice every time during SWW just to do the Star Wars stuff one day, and see the rest of the park the next. And Disney World is so huge, you need about 5 days to see everything. Combining it with a Celebration would mean at least a week to a week and a half to stay there, and most SW fans can't afford the hotel, plane, and misc. expense costs for the con and the parks, especially those with families and taking time off of work.

Then there's the heat factor - a lot of people can't stand the type of weather that Florida has at that time of year, and while some people would like to maybe wear a costume during SWW, that takes away business from the actors hired to be in costume by Disney. The commute between the convention center is about 9 miles and the freeways there are super-crowded, and going back and forth between the two would just be insane. I already feel for the local 501st garrison, Rebel Legion base, and Fan Force that has to deal with BOTH of these big events now!

Personally, I would rather have seen Star Wars In Concert end its run at CV for a really big finale! But, no worries. Kathy, Dale, and I will most likely go back to SWW in 2011, when Star Tours reopens, and that coincides with the parks's 40th anniversary!

    Ticket prices just went up!

    http://www.starwarscelebration.com/en/Tickets/Prices/

    EDIT:

Just found out the small increase was due to the fact that taxes are now added. But if you bought tickets at the original price, you won't have to add the taxes.

i've estimated how much c5 would cost me with membership/hotel/flight and it would roughly cost $778 RT for wed to sunday. anyone else come up with the same estimate for their individual c5 vacation? for those chipping in for hotel how much would it cost per person to add me to their room?

Got our Southwest flights - SF to Orlando: $104 each way!

We're staying until the 18th to do Universal for the Harry Potter attraction, and one day at a Disney water park.

    :D

VIP tickets/upgrades also went on sale:

No thanks. I've already met and greeted Dave Filoni and the Clone Wars voice actors.

If I hadn't been so busy with 20 other things the past few days I would have gotten your bargain tickets Matt. Thanks for the e-mail reminder this morning though. I got $135 each way from San Jose which isn't horrible, but not a bargain either. I'll be on the same flights as Matt and Dale for a portion of the trip (our flights meet up on plane changes). Hopefully we'll all have a great time at the con!

    Is anyone else going?

I'm wondering if its worth posting any updates here or not. If you're still on the fence, I'd consider going. With con itself, the RL/501st/Friends & Family party, the Fan Force party, getting DisneyWorld all to ourselves, and Universal for the Harry Potter attraction, its going to be one FUN trip! [face_dancing]

Plus, I still have hotel rooms available.
