I was wondering if this has ever been discussed with the group. You are pretty much a Rebel/Jedi costume group, right? Just curious what the groups intentions for growth were or if there are any future plans or directions Spokantina was interested in taking.

We're not quite a "Rebel/Jedi" costume group. The Spokantina is more just a general fan group. Not all of us costume and those who do don't always do Rebel/Jedi, or Star Wars itself for that matter. My personal interest is more video game characters. One of our members here for college is former 501st back in his home state. If you are referring to our SpoCon presence at Bloomsday, technically I was the only one dressed in "Rebel/Jedi" at the booth - Nasman and Smudge's wife were Jedi running the race. Also, the local 501st is not affiliated with us; we just do conjoined events for things like SpoCon promotions.

In short, no, we haven't talked about a Rebel Legion, mainly because we're not exclusively a costume group. I can't speak for myself, but if you want to try and start a Rebel Legion faction, go right ahead. I think a couple might be interested.

I would love to start the Rebel Legion here, those costumes rock, unfortunately I have my hands full with being the Vader for the 501st. I guess, I was just curious if any members of the group were interested in going that direction, since I have seen some cool costuming coming from some of the members here. I miss worded my original post. I understand Spokantina is not a costuming group and would not want to change the meaning of the group, if that was implied originally. Just some thoughts rolling around in the old noggin. It would just be cool to have rebels in Spokane. I don't believe the Empire has run the all out of town :)

    Thanks

See, now if I knew you were the Vader, I wouldn't have run my mought off like an idiot thinking you were new in town. :p

Like the 501st, we have talked about joining groups like that over the years. The problem is that we are really heavy on the prop side with our talents and less so with the cloth parts. It is mostly my fault, because I have lots of good intentions for helping people with costumes, but the follow through is the problem. During our project meetings, I've been drafting and sewing the beginnings of some Imperial Officers, so that is what I will focus on getting done first. That way we can add ourselves to the 501st soon. After that, my pet project is to have a rebel Hoth group. That would be fun for the winter.

Cool, I've seen a couple of things you made and must say you are very talented in the sewing department. That would be great to add you guys to the legion as officers or anything for that matter. A lot of people have contacted us about appearances and we have some fun things coming up. The Spokane Symphony wants us to be on stage for the John Williams tribute, MAC people want us for the Out Of This Word Exhibit and is setting up luxury car escort to drop us off at the "red carpet" if you will, for the opening day, we will be on KHQ again next week for a promotion and so on. Its pretty fun being 501st in Spokane. Who'd a thunk. As always, the more the merrier. You guys are already Star Wars fans and for those of you who like the idea of dressing up as your favorite bad guy...well what you waiting for ;)

THe best thing to do is to start that group yourself and link it TO this one. That way the fan base has all of it's outlets and the Cantina gets stronger for it. Your "new" group might just encourage new members to come onboard. Take mine for example I just started a Mandalorian fan club of my own and have a link to the Spokantina on the website. Check it out. http://bu55c.webs.com/
