I'm interested in what everyone's ideas are about our brand new SIG. I'd like to get a meeting time together between all those interested, so we can get this thing going. Since 2 of our 3 monthly meetings are on weeknights, I'd like to see the meetings on the weekend sometime. Saturdays have traditionally worked better than Sundays, but either day would work.

Chuck, what did you have in mind?

Guys, I unlocked this for you.

It seems to be difficult for folk to make it to the SIG meetings. I was hoping to get away with having a little "show-and-tell" before or after the GM. If that's not possible, we' do it another way. First of all, who's in? Please post on this thread if you are inerested and what costume you'd like to do. It would be killer if we could put together a group of similar costumes. One person in a costume is alone. several people in costume is much more acceptable socially.

I think a show and tell before or after the GM would just be an extension of the GM. SIG's are somewhat an independant group that meets on a seperate day to conduct business. I was under the impression that we would meet once a month and work on whatever project we chose to do. For example I would work on a Rebel Pilot uniform while Bill would make modifications on his Stormtrooper costume or continue his work on another Star Wars costume or prop.

If you want to have this done at CQ then it would be a good idea to check with Jim as he has his gamers coming in all the time and we may get in their way. But either way I am in.

That looks awesome, damn good job on the blaster rifle.

What was the exact pack that Lucasfilm used for the Endor Troopers?

There were two packs. One was a camoflaged Hoth backpack. The other was an ALICE pack, but normal Alice packs have 3 pockets in the back. The one in ROTJ only have two. Some costumers are removing the pockets and reattaching two. Mine has three. I'll just have to live with it. Besides, the action figure has 3 pockets on his pack. The pouches and such are different for each commando.

Oh, the two pieces on the bottom of the barrel. They are used to steady the gun on the ground while you shoot it. In this case, the Germans used it as a handle when one man held it over his shoulder as the gunner aimed and fired.

So are you up for making another MG-34? I know someone who could use one. [face_whistling]

BTW, The Endor costume looks great! Also, did you make the MG-34 so that the feed tray opens?

Yep, that costume and blaster is saweeet!

A couple of suggestions for the new SIG...

I would probably make it on a weekend or an evening. Folks usually have a weekend eve. that works well for them or a time on the weekend. I would not make it the same day as the GM. If people are going to get together to work on projects and geek out, the meetings need to be at someone's house or a party room or apartment club house or the like.

I wouldn't rule out any local venue that works well for the members of the SIG and the leader. Mt. Vernon, West Side, etc. should all be options.

During and after the first meeting of the SIG, members can discuss what will work the best.

First of all, YP I finally know who Pillow Pants is. Secondly, what do you want to be?

If we have to have a meeting. Sunday afternoons would work best for me for a meeting in E'ville. Or, any night but Monday at my place in Vermin Mons (Mt. Vermin). We can discuss what's best for everybody. Monday nites are right out though, that's when our city council meetings are.

One thing to point out. One nite a month will not get you a costume. You will have to work on your gear at home as well. Some projects can be time consuming. Another good point for a group costume, We can do some "assembly line" stuff on certain parts.

I'm here. But I'm not there, so it doesn't matter what night works for me for the most part. :) I will come to any meetings I can though!

Thanks for the info about the DLT-19 (MG-34) tutorial. My only problem is that I have no wood working tools or experiance with them. The stock would be a cool assembly line item since we could use it for a clone trooper blaster as well.

As for the meetings, Sundays would work best for me as long as I don't have Guard that weekend. (Which is almost always the weekend of the GM.)

Right now I'm working on my Sandtrooper backpack and I may have enough spare parts left over to make a Hoth/Endor Rebel pack. They are basically the same pack with different nernies (sp?) attached. Do modelers still say nernies?
