Amph Exodus: Gods and Kings

Just watched the trailer and I must say it does look pretty epic. If it wasn't for the fact that I want to see Hobbit III when it comes out, I'd go see this one.

I do think Bale looks a bit silly with his beard, but maybe that's just me. Wouldn't be surprised if this is rated R since "Gladiator" and "Kingdom of Heaven" were, but we'll see. I do wonder, though, just how much time will be spent developing Moses' and Ramses' relationship before Moses' banishment. Roughly the first half of "The Ten Commandments" and "The Prince of Egypt" fleshes out Moses' life in the Egyptian court as the Bible gives very few details. I'd expect "Exodus" to follow a similar pattern.

 

Joel Edgerton looks ridiculous.

 

1. I want Aaron Paul to shout, "Yeah, *****! Locusts!"

2. I had no idea that there were so many northern Europeans in Egypt at the time.

3. This being a "historical" Ridley Scott picture, I expect the Jews to be a bunch of 21st-century secular humanists.

 

Really hope it doesn't get a watered down PG13 rating. That's one of the many things wrong with Scott's Robin Hood.

 

Don't worry, all the "bad" Egyptians will be dark skinned.

 

So since Batman is Moses will God still be played by Morgan Freeman to give him all his gadgets?

That looks excellent.

 

I'm a huge sucker for Moses movies, so I'll probably end up seeing this at some point. That said, there really isn't much about this that looks great. I agree with Even and Lord of Vivec. There's a mystifying over-abundance of swords, too.

 

The abundance of eyeliner alone makes this a must-see

 

Alexander, on the other hand, was literally one of the worst films I have ever seen.

 

Keeping my fingers crossed for a post-credits scene with Russell Crowe's Noah being recruited by Nick Fury to join Moses, John the Baptist and Paul of Tarsus to form The Atoners.

Egerton does look ridiculous with the shaved head, Adam of Nuchtern. Yul Brynner pulled it off well, but it makes Egerton look weird.

I Are The Internets, given Scott's penchant for "R" films, it wouldn't surprise me if this one is.

Darth Guy, Lord Vivec, it is a bit baffling that Bale doesn't at least have tanned skin. After all, Heston did in TTC (I think?) Did they not do much shooting on location or did Bale simply not start to tan?
