It's probably a good thing that Howard has decided to go along with the UK and update the laws regarding terrorism...can't hurt, can it?

They had CCTV footage of the 4 terrorists entering the train station in London, how did that camera prevent it from occuring?

I'm not talking about cameras and such...but punishment etc. Ahwell, better to be prepared than not.
    Anyone have a better idea?

I supposed when you have people that are prepared to die, Cameras that lead to their apprehension wont really be a deterrent at all!

It will probably just annoy the crap out of everyone and will be torn apart on A Current Affair!

I'm gonna phone Todd and tell him :p

As for better ideas? Nah, nothing that wouldn't label me a Nazi and have the civil rights screamers bleating away.

Hey if there was an easy soloution, I'm sure it would be employed.

I'm sure us all holding hands and flowers won't happen. And the problem is I don't think theres anything these guys want. I suppose they think the western world is evil and needs to be undone.

Theres probably a more competent statement out there- I'm no expert on the subject to be honest!

You're spot on Sith magician. The Easiest soloution is usually morally wrong!!!

Unless you're Ted Bullpit, in which case every soloution is to "blow it up"

eg: I hate taxes!, somebody should blow them up!

I have never debated anyones military training here lol you guys have. I have heaps of cool stories though. One was based at the sniper games and the other was whist training with "Benny the Jet". Man he is powerful! But lets not go the line of personal attacks hey people. I have moved in and I am not leaving. Victoria is so quiet now

I guess with biometrics being developed the CCTV cameras may be able to soon dynamically identify known offenders and instantly alert local security or police. Still in the case of the bombers they probably have no past criminal records. They are trialing cameras for pokies to identify known problem gamblers as the enter.

CCTV basically means we can survey an area ex post facto to get a good look at our suspects. It's not preventative primarily, though the presense is meant to be a deterrant. It's meant to help authorities locate suspects easier. I'm all for it.

Oh I'm not against it, just the mentality that putting them in means "There, that'll fix it!". It's akin to the people who buy smoke alarms because they think it prevents a fire.

Indeedy. Although, I'm usually looking for a good polly bash, in all fairness that wasn't really how he said it.

But theres not a lot you can do!

At least a fire alarm can alert you to trouble and prevent loss of life. As has been said, security cameras only really become useful after the damage has been done.

And we're still waiting, Mixo. Whenever you're ready...

So you're not going to provide proof that I said the CIA was engaged in legal activity, even under customary international law, Mixo? :)

As funny as this is...oh wait, no it's not!

I don't know how many more times I can say "on topic" before go e-postal. This thread is not about "lol" or its derivatives, or even anyone on the boards who says it.

I don't know why picking on Mixo is so relevant to this thread.

This was talking about a tragedy, guys.
