Star Wars Legend Mike Quinn returns as Nien Nunb in Star Wars: The Force Awakens! | Making Star Wars

 

No disrespect to Quinn, but I think he may have gotten this wrong.

The alien that Quinn assumes is his character (Nien Nunb) is almost certainly Ello Asty. The head is completely the wrong shape for Nien, while matching up with Asty perfectly.

Quinn's unfortunately wrong about this one, but I'm thrilled he's back!

Yes that's my reading. His head is visible above Asty's helmet. (now there's one for SlashFic writers! - EDIT: Sorry I'm in a funny mood today)

I think MSW missed that also as they reckoned he was an x-wing pilot so I assuem they were looking at Asty also and not the guy behind him.

Nunb's boots come up higher and no sign of white vest.

Of course we're all assuming that Asty is in this pic but there could of course be several of his people in the movie like there were with Mon Cal in Jedi.

That looks like something out of a 1950's movie. Something on Mystery Science Theater.

 

That new photo of Buford reminds me of an old Doctor Who set. I'm still wondering what role Tom Baker is playing in Star Wars. Is he part of TFA? Part of VIII? Rogue One? I can imagine Tom providing the voice of Buford, although Buford will probably just be beeping, booping, and bopping.
I can also imagine Tom Baker providing the voice of the red sentry droid outside of Maz's castle. That would be a much more effective use of Tom's voice.... the juxtaposition of a rather intimidating droid with a pleasant voice, capable of eliminating unwanted visitors, or making wanted guests feel very welcome.

Since Buford is in charge of keeping starfighters fueled and combat-ready, I surmise that his head is a power coupling, and we might see bolts of electricity travel from his face to the terminal of a starfighter.

 

Yup, just saw it. Thanks! Just wasn't clear from the MSW report who which figure they were referring to. Perhaps Nunb and Asty are best buds!
