There are so many other things from this story that could have made it to this cover, but no, they had to put a picture of a ship that wasn't even in this book, but merely mentioned. They might as well but Obi fighting Vader on the cover of all the other books to. shared thoughts would be nice

Umm, hypocritical for you to complain about that considering you do the same thing.

It was a planet on the cover of Ruin. You could see flames on the surface destroying crap. And I assume that ring was just artist licence. The artist thought it would be cool to have a spacestation ring around a planet. It wasn't a trade federation ship. It wasn't a worldship. I always assumed it was a planet.

I've always assumed it was a pic of the worldship at Sernpidal.

I thought it was the remains of Sernpidal on the cover of Ruin and the X-Wings were the Rogues.

The thing on Ruin cover is an Ithorian herdship, IMO. That could make sense, since they evacuated all herdships from Ithor, except for Tafanda Bay. The lower half of the sphere (with the yellow lights) could be the 'core' of the ship, where the repulsorlift is located, and if you look carefully, you can see that the upper half is transparent, since it'd be a dome. Plus, IMO, all herdships look different, so if it does not look like the herdship from EGtPM, it really doesn't matter. AND : we have no size reference. That means the thing could have any size. And finally, the red things could simply be plants, it be quite logical for Ithorians to have that sort of 'decoration'.

The thing on the cover of Ruin is the Imperial customs station over Bastion that Leia passed on her way to the meeting with Pellaeon. This was confirmed by MAS during an interview. The ship on the cover of Rebirth is a Yuuzhan Vong worldship. This was confirmed by Terese Nielson.

Okay. Well, I agree with Rebirth...

But for Ruin... What does X-Wings do near an Imperial Custom station (at least in that book) ?

The funny thing is that until I saw this discussion, I thought the ship on the cover of "Ruin" was a Trade Federation Droid Control ship. You have to admit it does look almost like one. I've often asked myself why in the world they would put a ship on the cover that doesn't even appear in the novel. How very wrong I was...

Perhaps the x-wings are flying escort for Leia's shuttle (which is absent) or perhaps the artist just took creative freedom.

I just wish it could be like the X-wing novels, where each of their covers depicted a battle scene from that novel.

Well, in the book she says she wanted to look pacifical, so her shuttle was with unpowered weapons and shields. X-Wings wouldn't look that pacifical.

As for artistical freedom... Well, maybe, but what are those red things on the station ? That does not make a lot of sense...

Bib Fortuna- "I just wish it could be like the X-wing novels, where each of their covers depicted a battle scene from that novel."

Yet remember XW:Bacta War? I think it was that cover that depicted a fleet of MC cruisers which were never featured in any battle scene of the novel.

Artists create the covers often before the plot has even been finalised. Hence the Mon Cal cruisers on the Xwing novel that they don't even appear in AND hence the x-wings @ Bastion.

I don't believe it was the tafanda bay as I had the understanding that they were saucer like vessels MUCH smaller than that of which there were many. THAT thing is in orbit, it wouldn't need repulsor lift support.

DDJB, re-read my post explaining why I think it was a herdship... You seem to have missed my explanations...

The Eye's just an asteroid with a lot of laser turrets on it... (and some ion engines sticking out of its @$$)
