I love Obsidian games, and can't wait to see what they do with this next installment!

The Hoover Dam thing was pretty easy to predict, especially since it was going to be included in a previous, canceled Fallout game.

Who wants to bet that the main character will be called "The Courier"? Eh? Eh?

Anybody know if you'll be able to become a member of any factions?

Wondering that myself. I presume the Brotherhood will factor into the game's storyline in some way, but not sure exactly how yet.

Whole crapton of new high-rez screenshots at GameSpy.

Check out that new "Companion Commands" wheel -- looks like someone's been influenced by BioWare just a bit. ;)

I'm kinda disappointed that the skill books are only temporary this time around. With Bobbleheads and skill books, it was easy to max out your character in Fallout 3 (even before the Level 30 perks) -- I'm guessing they're trying to prevent this same thing from happening with New Vegas. I reckon the way the skill magazines will work will be much larger temporary boosts to skills, and which'll be featured alongside skill books for smaller permanent increases. In the same way Mentats increase your INT by +5 for a short period of time, a Lockpicking skill magazine could be a short-term +25% boost to Lockpick.

Also, I'm wondering if they'll limit the number of weapons in the game in favor of just sticking with the mod system? Like, a hunting rifle can turn into a sniper rifle. Will they still have another type of sniper rifle? In OXM, it shows a hunting rifle that you can add a scope, an extended clip, and "custom action" to.

I'm rather glad they're spiffing up the non-V.A.T.S. combat. I used V.A.T.S. about 85% of the time during combat in FO3, and it'll be nice to use regular aiming for a change.

These details make me want to finish Fallout 3. I made a mistake and sold it, not because I didn't like it but because there was so much to do in the game that I couldn't focus, got frustrated, and didn't play it much. Now I want to pick up the GOTY edition.

Well the look is what you'd expect, not all that drastically different from Fallout 3. I can't be bothered to re-read the thread, but I hope they have vehicles and more than as a gimmick. I hope they change the terrain around, because DC is noted for its buildings and monuments, but outside of Vegas, the West is about the landscape. With this and RDR both in the west, it will be interesting to see how they compare. Obviously they will be two very different games, but if they just change the gray color palate for brown, and the pop culture references to olde tyme cowboy, I think that would be a bad thing indeed.

Those screens look identical to F3. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just a bit surprising; the terrain looks completely unchanged, the asphalt, the mountains, everything. I know there's only a few shots and they can't show us everything, but I hope it isn't so damn similar to F3 that it feels like another DLC pack.

    Collector's Edition detailed

    [image=http://www.justpushstart.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/falloutvegas.jpg]

The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the CE will all include the following:

? Seven ?Lucky 7? poker chips, each designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.

? A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas.

? A recreation of the game?s highly coveted ?Lucky 38? platinum chip.

? A hardcover graphic novel ?All Roads? that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. ?All Roads? was written by Chris Avellone, the game?s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.

? ?The Making of Fallout: New Vegas? DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

P.S. Anyone know what happened to Leto II?

I have high hopes for this sequal. I loved fallout 3. i will be honest i used a,ot of cheatsb though. if your frustrated by the size and time it takes to get anywhere, just hit the ~ key and tnn 1. boom you can go to any location.

i like this idea of factions. in fallout 3 there were factions but you never really felt you belonged to them. hopefully in this new game it will be a gtaish in the ability to really be part of a group and have certain enemies that are unique to the group

Less than a week away now! I can't wait. I've been actively avoiding reading up too much on this game. I really want to be able to explore the game world with no idea of what's coming or even what's out there.

There's no reason or need to use F3 saves for F:NV. It is not a sequel, prequel, or in anyway connected. You do not play as the same character. It's just a game that takes place in the same universe.
As for not coming out till Thursday for PS3...lol@sony.

Also worth noting is that the first DLC for New Vegas will be 360 exclusive

okay, well, as i read it it just said that the content was coming out for the 360 first. i remember how fallout 3's content was exclusive and now you can get all the same stuff for both systems. it's just that i got a ps3 for my birthday and i only have one game for it. i was trying to balance the two sides out but now i just don't know what to do with myself.

It comes out in shops on the 21st here, but not on Steam till the 22nd.

Not that I'll be getting it with Fable III around the corner. I might wait till it's on sale.
